Mr Sun isn't supposed to set his clock back?

I didn't set mine back either, and that further messed me up.

A movie came on after midnight but didn't end until 4am. I just dozed off and suddenly the TV came on? FN Dr. Ho!

So I'm dressed and working long ago, I just wanted to post the sunrise.. hours away..

...and in the distance, a cat is coughing up his breakfast...
"Cleanup in the downstairs hallway"

How's your starting?

@Rasta A lot quieter than yours, lol. But the kitchen is torn apart...having a new backsplash installed. That will be finished today and then all will need to be put back to rights.

Take a breather from the noise and pain of the world around us and focus on the beauty of a rose sprinkled with dewdrops. Featured in sepia on this silent Sunday. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-velveteen-rose-karen-cook.html

The stunning beauty of a late autumn rose dappled with raindrops.

I chose to showcase the beauty of the rose in sepia, and love how it made the petals look like velvet. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-velveteen-rose-karen-cook.html?newartwork=true

I have never had roses bloom so late in the year!

It is early November and this rose bush continues to bless me with new buds and blossoms.

The first frost has come and gone, and some parts of Nova Scotia have seen snow...but this hardy rose thrives.

The coral or peach colored blooms are perfect and I treasure each one. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/petals-of-november-karen-cook.html?newartwork=true

We decided on a late October day to visit the historic Balmoral Grist Mill in The mill was built in 1874

The Grist Mill, which is still in operation today, is located in a gorge on Matheson's Brook. This peaceful scene, with the colors of autumn reflected in the calm waters, is the area above the dam that operates the three story building that is the mill. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/autumn-at-mathesons-brook-karen-cook.html

Overnight, the first frost of the season in & it is cold!

The leaves on the ground were coated with frost, the edges looked like they were dipped in sugar.

One maple leaf in particular caught my attention...through the magic of selective color or selective black and white, this one leaf showcases the beauty of October leaves https://fineartamerica.com/featured/october-leaves-karen-cook.html

What a magical sight!

The waters of Mahone Bay and Chester Basin were mirror-like on a cool October day in

On this day, the cool air caused the mists to rise from the water, creating a fantasy of tranquility and beauty. A single sailboat moored in the water was partially obscured by the mist, waiting for the wind to pick up for a day of sailing. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/mists-of-mahone-bay-karen-cook.html

One of the sights I look forward most in springtime in Nova Scotia is spotting a field of wild lupines.

A medicinal plant belonging to the Fabaceae family, it grows across parts of North America from Texas in the deep south to portions of Canada on the east coast. Known for its colorful blossoms, its straight tall stalks are common along the roadside. Also referred to as Old Maid's Bonnets, and Quaker Bonnets.

An annular occurs when the moon passes between earth & the sun, obscuring the view of the sun for some on the earth. It is different from a total eclipse. If you are capable of safely looking up at the sun, a ring of fire effect will be visible, as the moon is much smaller than the sun behind it.

The rays of sunlight cast a flare onto the daisy like a spotlight. I love the stunning bokeh effect of the sunlight. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/eclipsed-by-a-daisy-karen-cook.html

My neighbour bought an old house. The hurricane took the power mast down, & Nova Scotia Power would not reconnect without electrician & new wiring. He's been without power for 3 months, it's getting cooler, electrical setup was $4000, & ready two weeks.
NSPower didn't show for Friday installation and left him hanging for the weekend.
He has no phone, no cellular service here.,NSP performance standards list 3 day target, 4.6 day max. They had weeks. I'm reporting this to regulators, UARBNS.

@Rasta outrageous. We have friends on the south shore who lost their landline (Bell aliant) in TS Lee...a month ago. Still haven't got that service back.

Located in Rockport , these are ruins of limestone kilns from the 19th century .

The kilns soared to heights of up to 36 feet and were wood-fired, each using 1000 cords of wood annually, most of which was imported from Canada. There is a rail line overhead...allowing the kilns to be filled with lime from the top.

  • "in 1832 on this spot nothing happened". What a humorous sign to spot on my walking tour of Lunenburg !

The town of Lunenburg was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site to protect its unique architecture and town plan as an example of planned British Colonial settlement in Canada. Its historic downtown is also designated as a National Historic Site of Canada.

  • Always time to catch a little nap between feedings!

This image made me smile. These two Mourning Doves looked so cozy, nestled on their branches in the winter sunlight. The warmth of the sun must have made them a little sleepy...time to catch forty winks! https://fineartamerica.com/featured/forty-winks-karen-cook.html

Let's pretend we're all starting our day?

I didn't sleep. It's 90 mins to daylight : Can't sleep then.

I watched late news & TV until after 1am, woke at 2am for a pee, & a gas bubble made me puke. (lovely)

When I crawled back in bed, I found our sickly cat, out of her kennel, had pooped in our bedroom.
Two other cats had been quietly fighting under the bed for hours. Teddy was scratching window glass.
I just stayed up, it's brutal.
I've been cleaning poop.
I'm tired!

a video of moving clouds, and fog over the early morning ocean, producing waves of haze across the ocean and horizon. The text GOOD MORNING pops up in the video

karencookphotos,
@karencookphotos@mastodon.social avatar

@Rasta @bruceg It all started when I became my mother's main caregiver. I needed that 'me' time before the rest of the household got up. Now years later, it is habit. Can't 'not' get up early. I love the peace of the early morning.

There she is! A lovely female Yellow Warbler snacking on the seeds of Queen Anne's Lace.

A lively and colorful warbler, the Yellow Warbler is a tiny migratory songbird with a loud and melodious tune. She quickly hopped from plant to plant, nibbling at the seeds and seed pods in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. We may regard the Queen Anne's Lace as a pesky weed, but to these tiny summer visitors, it is a welcome food source. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/y-is-for-yellow-karen-cook.html
