Decided to rest and forgot my neighbors are having multiple trees chopped down. Napping is highly unlikely.

@BobWilliams

Gahhhh!!!

Go with the flow?

Find some good heavy metal to listen to?

Or noise cancelling headphones?

kel,

@markusl @BobWilliams

Absolutely!

Fire up the synths, find every noise source you can... record it all and call it "war of the noises"?

I work at a place where we have to lower the flag to half staff per presidential orders and at this point, it feels like we just need to keep it there permanently until something gives with gun control. We're having a mass shooting or multiples like every day. This is untenable.

I don't live in the US, I am just an outside observer from a country that generally does not have this problem (UK - although we are definitely not without any problems here), and I have switched off the news on these events and now just assume that it happened again today 😢

Actual 'news' i.e. 'something new worth reporting on', would be someone actually doing something about this.

Sincere heartfelt well wishes to everyone affected by this scourge.

A while ago, I read about the psycholgical effect that kicks in when someone tries to fight for a good cause, but then makes a tiny mistake.

We are very hard on hypocrisy because our brains like when things add up.

I.e. a climate activist with a plastic cup triggers much harder than Elon taking a 5 minute flight in his private jet every other day.

The first feels wrong, while the second just meets our expectations.

I can't stop seeng this everywhere ever since.

It's the same with mannerisms, go around being unkind, grumpy and rude all the time and people will just learn to accept varying degrees of that mode of expression;

but if you are kind, cheerful and polite all the time, the resulting massive overreactions to even the most modest expressions of annoyance are wild.

Look at the sky full of stars. ⭐

But what if those stars were drones, programmed to create a breathtaking light show?

Last year, on , 400 drones lit up the sky over Toulouse to celebrate the EU's unity and diversity.

The display was spectacular, reminding us of technology's power to bring people together.

Our new European Drone Strategy 2.0 ensures their safe use and sets a roadmap for the future of drones in Europe, from emergency services to air mobility solutions.

A video showing Lightworks over the sky of Toulouse as seen from a drone. Beethoven's 9th Symphony – the European anthem – accompanies the video.

@EU_Commission

Please do not normalise the use of drones. While they have legitimate use cases, they are anti-social, anti-privacy, invasive, anxiety inducing, are not without consequence to the environment and easily weaponised!

I would much rather see legislation banning their public use altogether. 50% of my walks to maintain my mental health last year were disrupted by loud monotonous whining, all sense of peace, tranquility ruined and all birdsong obliterated.

They are not good 🙄

One thing I for some reason lack of is a musical self-esteem. It comes from the insecurities of my childhood. Also some of the negative feedback I've received stuck to me forever, like the music teacher's comments that he will cut my finger off if I don't play the drums right or a bully who said I can't sing.

This is why I play piano, synth, guitar and sing on my own. I never let my voice be heard.

As a I have released 11 songs in total over the years. I have 84 drafts I have never releasd.

This unmixed song is one of those drafts. I composed it in 2019. Nobody has heard it yet, but I decided to share it for you folks.

Should I master it and do a proper release of it? Or toss it?

kel,
@kel@mastodon.online avatar

@rolle

The truth is, some people will love your music, some people won't.

It doesn't matter.

Would you really want to live in a world where everyone liked the same thing? I guess not 😀

My suggestion is to release your music!

Let people decide what they will, you can't control them.

Appreciate those who say they enjoy it.

Ignore anyone who feels a valid use of their time and energy is being negative about someone else, they're not worth your time and energy.

QED.

FWIW, I enjoyed it 😊

> Adobe Tells Users They Can Get Sued for Using Old Versions of Photoshop

We need tools to get to the point where they can replace Adobe tools. Open alternatives are great, but they are sadly not there yet to replace Adobe tools for professionals.

And won't be unless projects like @inkscape get enough funding to develop to a point of being viable alternatives.

Yes, it is in no small part about the money.

p.s. I am subscribed to the Adobe Newsletter, the desperation is extreme, they are flailing, thrashing about in the throes of death.

Please don't misunderstand, I am a sympathetic person, a super empath, I literally, physically, feel others' pain, it's disabling, devastating, only extreme psychopathy can turn that off, so for me to feel this way means this is 1000% just-desserts; may their demise be swift and eternal!

composergreg, to synths

During my recent multi-week camping adventure, I allowed myself ONE synth.

It was the ASM Hydrasynth. Why? (I don't actually hear you ask...)

Well, it's terribly powerful and I rarely use it. Maybe I don't KNOW it well enough? What magic is lurking in those digitally aliased cracks and crevasses?

So I spent 3 weeks alone with the Hydra and this is the first thing I created with it...

Finding people here is like finding people in real life.

There isn't a hashtag to click called it's a slow process, full of surprises and sudden unexpected encounters that come from casual curiosity.

I hope it never changes in this regard.

I don't care about numbers, exposure or whatever, I don't want the news, I don't need a group of like minded followers;

I like seeing people expressing themselves in a community of randomness undefinable by any reductionist hashtag!
