it's ridiculous to me the amount of queries being blocked by pihole. 23% of my dns queries are being shitcanned by the most simple of lists, plus the domains I hellbanned by watching my TV's dns queries for an hour while I messed around with things to try to turn off all of its ads and such.

23% of my dns traffic is ads and tracking and telemetry garbage.

I also use browser based ad blocking so that's probably doing a lot of heavy lifting on its own.

Ok it’s steroid brain time how much am I going to get done re turning the thinkpile into a kube cluster before the fatigue wins tonight?

And do I start by making a last ditch effort to get windows running on the nuc before before I drop nixos on it and migrate my shell setup over to it (which will be trivial since it’s all defined in nix now) or do I just go straight to nix and maybe do a windows VM and vnc if I want to do something stupid like play EverQuest

I went to a keyboard meetup a couple of years ago and brought a bunch of the fam with me.

Then I went to a different meetup all the way in DC and brought a bunch of the fam with me PLUS lots of others did. Huge pile of keyboards on the table.

Some day I should bust out the whole collection and lay it out. I'd need a much larger table though haha

comically, the way to enable "true color" support in neovim is apparently to set your TERM to a -256color variant. So all of those shenanigans I did with termcap dbs and setting TERM and such to get emacs to work with tmux-24bit, etc... yea just throwing that away.

Has anyone at any of the streaming services done any piracy lately? Do they realize what they’re competing against? And that shoving ads into people’s faces is just going to push them to piracy?

It’s so trivial and such a great experience. I download a file, add it to my torrent client, and a little while later I just boop and watch it on my tv, phone, iPad, laptop, fridge, whatever.

No ads.
