This week’s We, The Citizens wrap reflects on the prevalence of poor mental health in Singapore: is it really so surprising when costs are rising, familiar landmarks are disappearing, and the city is such a stressful place to live in for so many people? https://www.wethecitizens.net/mental-health-and-loneliness-in-singapore/

I've been collecting Minsung dolls for most of the past year. I've occasionally branched out to include Jiniret to get PaboRacha. Recently I added a couple of PuppyM dolls to the mix and now I realise I have SKZ Fam CheaterRacha dolls

Well, I saw that one of the themes for is , so naturally I've gotta dive right in with my best boys!

This song is a great little intro to the members, and it's so clever the way they're introduced in reverse age order by the next-youngest. Also, it's just a bop.

kixes,

@hobiis yaaaassss I came to check the hashtags just to see if this song is already in the mix

My review of a that I dropped mid way, but picked up again (which I rarely do) and binged until the end. So, will it be worth the while to watch it?

To wrap up the last few hours of in my time zone, here are some songs that made me think of the theme! (Or anti-gravity, as it may be.)

My first choice for tonight:

We Go Up - NCT Dream
https://youtu.be/LV1Es22E0RI?si=bqOq2f69DR-0DGqF

Not gonna lie - this chorus loops in my head ALL THE TIME.

kixes,

@hobiis I love this song so so so so much.

It's a real crapshoot these days. I could be minding my own business and doing whatever and then suddenly bam! ANXIETY!

What am I anxious about? I am not sure! But ANXIETY!

I was enjoying my newfound iced americano drinking habit but I've stopped because the caffeine rush also triggers ANXIETY!

One of the happiest and silliest things I’ve done recently is to write this GIF-laden round-up of , ’s ridiculous recurring variety concept where they dress up as members of a very dysfunctional (yet happy) family: https://passionprocrastination.substack.com/p/cant-live-without-skz-family

I haven’t done any work-work today yet and am running behind my schedule. But I have built a cat tree that was taller than me, with no instructions apart from the photo I saved from Shopee when I ordered the damn thing.

My cats' initial reaction was to inform me that lunch was late.

I am not ready for it to be Monday so soon. It’s been a terrible weekend of sadness and anxiety and I am not done melting into my bed.

So pleasantly surprised to see a 4-star of my , ‘The I Recognise’, in The Straits Times. I hope this means it can reach more people beyond the networks we’ve been relying on, and that it can provide food for thought for those who might never have thought about , or in Singapore before. https://www.straitstimes.com/life/arts/book-review-three-non-fiction-books-on-singapore-s-policy-issues

I think we really need to have honest conversations about what it's like to have as pets. It'll help prepare people, especially those who are inexperienced with cats, about the realities of ownership.

kixes,

@liztai I have scars all over the place from cat scratches. If there’s a wound on me at any given point of time it is almost always because one of my cats was playing and jumped on me or did something by accident. It can be hard to catch them to trim their claws to prevent this sort of thing!

The point about personality is really important—cats and humans have to adjust to live with each other and sometimes that doesn’t work out…

My has held steady in the #3 spot for the second week running on the Books Kinokuniya bestseller list, yay! I did not make the Sunday Times' non-fiction bestseller list, though, because, to my surprise, they do not collate data from Kinokuniya, the biggest bookseller in . Weird. But oh well.

kixes,

In other news, one of my cats has gone for his dental surgery today and needs to extract 3 teeth, and I just had to order new cat trees to replace the old crumbling ones, so any money I might be making off my book is probably gone already 🫠

I'm playing with the Arc browser https://arc.net/ and there's a lot to like. The nice, clean, vertically-stacked split view is especially nice on a tallscreen (LG DualUp). I'm worried about longevity, though: don't want to fall in love if it's not going to stick around. Apple should buy it, but won't?

kixes,

@samuel_wade I've been using it for most of this year and have found it really helpful in separating the tabs for personal stuff, work and civil society stuff that I do rather than have it all crushed together, and the ability to have two panes has been amazing when I need to copy-paste stuff from one place to another.

I love writing. I love that I get to write for my work. But sometimes I also want to write about something completely different from what I have to write for work. Which is why it fills me with so much joy to start Passion Procrastination, a fun newsletter, with a couple of friends. It’s meant to be whimsical and impulsive and messy—totally different from the responsibilities we have at work.

If (IF!) I were to be in the at the end of the year, would there be any interest in having me talk about my on somewhere or something…?

kixes,

@skuppr I might not be sufficiently anarchist for them but as long as it’s not right-wing fascist bookshops I’m quite open!
