Oh, today is my 8th anniversary of working on Mastodon. I was 23 when I started, finishing my last year of university, still living at my parent's place. I had no idea what I was getting myself into or that it would consume the next 8 years of my life almost completely.

This morning I chased the moon. Looked out the window as I brushed my teeth and saw the most amazing setting moon, so I put on (yesterday's) clothes and ran. Ran right out the door to chase the moon...

setting moon next to the roof of the ancitne village church. Moon is golden orange and looks very nice in the sky. Houses in the forefront, just on what would be the water's edge, but it's low tide (so there's no water there now)

@mxtthxw personal equilibrium. :) that and the other stuff... end of semester here so student essays and still pushing my own project with the cello (.https://resonance.lauraritchie.com/ ) and I have a big data set from a psychology experiment just waiting for me to work on it - but they are all so different and require my mind to be in SUCH different places. And last night I was conducting an orchestra...

    @ben I did - but always had glare on my glasses... (annoying) and I just got one of these - partly because it is SO dark here in the UK, but I discovered it makes me look great on calls !!! (as good as I can at least!) and no glare!!! win win!     A good thing ...brightened my Monday morning.

    After dropping my son at school, I stopped in the pull-in place on the side of the road just to check... and I was in luck ! There was one box of eggs and I had the £1.50 to put in the honesty tin. My morning (and breakfast!) is complete.

    I'm doing a big project to gather people's views on a piece of music that was composed to be multisensory. I've worked over the past few years to realise this, and it's ready for listeners/viewers.

    I’m in need of a laptop carry bag. Sounds simple but I specifically want a decent quality shoulder bag that can fit a 2020 MBP, some headphones (sennheiser hd25). Power supply, two or 3 small tools and some electrical tape.

    Are there any brands that might fit this criteria? Very much needs to fit those items and be hardwaring.

    Found a couple but didn’t quite fit the headphones. I definitely don’t want something too big! :80spc:

    @mxtthxw I foundn a company I really like and you can find the stuff cheaper on ebay/vinted. It's called InCase https://incase.com/ I've had a backpack from them for 10+ yrs and I used it and so did my son all through uni. It's still like brand new. - super durable!

    My mother is blind in one eye. She went to a bday party when she was 16. A kid was mad he wasn't invited and he threw a brick through the window. It hit my mother in the face. My great grandfather took her to a hospital in D.C. The white nurse on duty decided not to reach out to the doctor on call because the patient was Black and she didn't want to "disturb" him. The blood dried up on the back of her eye over night and she's been blind in it since.

    @StillIRise1963 I am so sorry. I wish people would love and no thurt and not hate, and those who don't never seem to suffer the consequences of their actions. It is the innocent, the kind, the youg, the frail - I am so sorry. and thank you fro telling her story. We need to keep telling and listening and saying it's not fixed - and I know sorry doesn't fix it either. x

    I have a writing coaching session tomorrow that I'm a bit stressed out about. My original deadline to get the whole first draft done was March. It is almost October and I'm nowhere near done - although I've picked up steam and I'm making a ton of progress. This is hard.

    @mxtthxw I totally go at the unpopulated times - 8am or weird o'clock. and I think I must go round memorising all the prices.... I used to be a mega price-watch person... and they used to have glitches where seasonal things would auto-reduce after a certain time period...even if they weren't labelled on the shelf. those were the days !
