@mxtthxw No, but they're probably going to federate with Threads. The only reason they've blocked is to be cautious over how the Fediverse will handle the traffic.
@mrbitterness told me this instance was the cool gang where all the cool people hang out, so I decided to join.
With the whole #Threads thing I think there is generally a fear of missing out that makes people want to go #corporate. That's why #Meta and #Twitter remain so popular.
But to go to, and remain on, part of the #Fediverse whose instances have chosen to opt out would probably make a more enjoyable, meaningful experience.
Finding people with similar interests is much more fruitful that knowing what some boring celebrity has to say, or to listening to a middling centrist crowd have their say.
... I've posted before Lydia Lunch's quote about New York: "No city needs you; you need it."
Social media too is like this. Sure, they need users en masse, but there's a feeling you can somehow influence and profit from the mass, when in actuality, "you wouldn't raise a whisper on a radar screen."
I'd prefer to be on an opt-out instance in a #Fediverse niche, so I hope there are instances making themselves known and asking for new members.
"It is not that people are worried that a claim of genocide will not be successful at the International Court of Justice ...
The problem is that ... it follows that not only are Netanyahu and hundreds of senior Israeli officials and military personally liable, but it is absolutely plain that “Genocide Joe” Biden, Sunak and members of their administrations are also criminally liable for complicity ..."
I just skimmed over a blog post that said that with #Meta joining the #Fediverse there's no point in blocking. They can already scrape your online data, so you're already fucked so basically give up now you asshole.
But we know the tone is going to change around here. Just like it did when there was a huge influx from Twitter.
And, yeah, blocking is probably not going to do anything. You'll see the influence through a friend of a friend. So basically, you're already fucked you asshole.
Listening to this #podcast of 28 Days Later I'm reminded of the styled hair of one of the characters ... Like where did she get the hair straighteners from?
There is a scene in #Supernatural where it is revealed Charlie's mother has been in a coma for ten years or something.
And not only has someone been cutting Charlie's mum's hair, but they've also been dying it a reddish colour.
@lydiaconwell Maybe they didn’t like her original colour and said: “This is our chance!” Or they thought: “Mom’s hair is showing her age. We should dye it” “Sure, but what colour?” “I don’t know, but I like chestnut.” Or, third option, she had grown white hair and they decided to dye it in order for her not to freak out when she woke up. Problem was, they had forgotten her original colour and tried something different. That seems plausible to me. I don’t pay attention to anyone’s hair colour. Unless it’s red. Then I do pay attention because I like it.
