SD cards are the literal worst.

they've expanded to be the size of small hard drives, and devices like the rpi keep using them as boot media, but they:

• use garbage tier low endurance flash cells internally
• have little to no overprovisioning for wear
• perform only the most basic wear levelling
• have no protocol level integrity checking
• have few internal error correction features, if any
• decay comparatively quickly without patrol scrubs
• do not perform patrol scrubs
• cannot do PLP

Upon reflection, it was a mistake to use birdsong as an alarm sound on my phone for the last year or so.

Goblin Cat has learned that bird chirps mean it is time for the Morning Screams, whereby mother saves her from the Starves. This was not a problem until the birds began singing at Oh Fuck Hundred Hours, and lo, the household has resounded to the Pathos Aria (scored for smol cat with big lungs).

Here you see the criminal, displaying absolutely no remorse.

Disability aids are often marketed to larger markets bc economies of scale are real. If you find yourself scoffing at something “pointless” for “lazy” people, it’s probably a disability aid that the manufacturer hopes can be made more affordable.

watching the Armored Core VI run at GDQ and I find it very funny that the mission rewards are like €120k, when the ordanance alone used in a single mission must cost five times that, let alone operational costs of running and repairing a giant 6-story tall flying mech.

I stumbled across this flowchart by GrumpyTG elsewhere, and I'm just kind of stunned at what a good job it does. Like, the only notes I'd even offer is to add a line from "I like to imagine life as a girl" to wanting to change presentation, below, and to tweak the phrasing of "I don't feel comfortable in my body" to be more inclusive of social dysphoria.

Other than that? 10/10.

actually, why am i being cagey about tangara's price? it's pretty much set at this point. i guess i'm just a bit self conscious bc it's more than i would prefer, but i think it's important to have a bit of buffer so that unexpected manufacturing costs aren't ruinous.

it is also still cheaper than most of the classic ipods were at launch, which i think is a good sign.

Put in some work this week on the “learning to control LED/hardware animation better” space, with help and feedback from @ishotjr and @North

Improvements:

• procedural animation and pros/cons versus keyframe
• more better gifs
• began translating “adding personality to procedural animation using math” video (linked in space) to motor/LED animation
• lerp

While recovering from double thumb surgeries over the past few months, I’ve been occasionally putting together notes on a Thing. On making things move the way I want them to. The way they move in my head when imagining the thing.

So much of making something move (in response to a sensor or a network or…) is practical engineering. And when I have that stuff solved, it feels so close. But the personality of the animation is elusive.
