I don't know if it's normal thing or not, but MST3K has been streaming on YouTube and I've been watching all night. I forgot how funny this show can be.
If you're struggling #ADHD task initiation, don't waste energy trying to convince yourself why the task is important or needs to be done.
You already know what needs to be done. That's not the problem.
The problem is the doing it part.
So approach it like it's a puzzle to solve. Try to imagine as many different ways as possible you could do the thing. Be curious and creative. Be silly. The goal is to make the task genuinely fun for you to do.
Trans people are job creators. Electrologists, hair removal professionals, makeup and clothes salespeople, doctors, nurses, surgeons, hair stylists, therapists, and countless others are supported economically from someone transitioning.
If anything, we should be giving tax breaks, subsidies, and government grants to trans people, and encouraging as many people as possible to transition to spur economic growth.
@catdad I'd even say trans people are more people than average people. They found out something about themselves, they know better who they are than quite a lot of other people. @malcircuit
Can we just stop using Discord and go back to using forum sites?
I realize it's (comparatively) super easy to set up, but y'all realize it's just going to bite us all in the ass as soon as someone at Discord decides they need to turn up the profit ratio?
It's a ticking time bomb. The whole thing is going to follow the enshittification process, and anything of value on there is going to be lost/sold/destroyed.
It's really frustrating how I become interested in fucking around with my hobby projects as I get more tired at night.
Right as my executive function shuts down for the day, when my difficulty with task initiation is at its worst, that's when I want to do a complex, poorly structured activity.
Being trans means breathing and feeling the air fill your lungs for the first time. Crying your tears for the first time. Feeling your heart beat for the first time. You are whole in a way that you've never been before.
And you chose that.
Even with all the fear, the anxiety, the discomfort, the peril, the sacrifices....
@malcircuit In the Detroit market, the local TV news (all 3 channels) is almost singlehandedly "sponsored" by the regional Gardner White chain of furniture stores, whose ad agency manages to craft ingeniously annoying commercials, from the stobe effects to the voice-over mannerisms (think "carnival barker") to the sheer repetitiveness (at least two insertions in every commercial break in every news show on every channel). There are other irritants; hard to put a finger on all of them. They synchronize the Gardner White commercials to run on all news channels at the same time, too.
Discovered the trans women I was chatting with has no trans friends and immediately went into Trans Mom mode and offered support and an invitation to the local trans discord I'm a part of.
No fucking way am I letting her get away with not having any support.
