So Ive had a bit of a bad week. The Letting agency I rent from asked to increase the rent and ive a long long standing problem with ground damp and loads of issues with repairs. I refused a rent increase on the grounds that the repairs were not kept up.

Today I have received a section 21 notice with no reason on it. Obviously a revenge eviction but I cant help but feel I need to get out anyway.

But aside from getting help from places that are way too stretched as is I really dont know what I can do.

Contacted the local council that can at least help with rent and deposit now its just a case of finding somewhere else.

@Whiskeyomega so sorry Will. Can I suggest contacting your local councillor too? Many of them are fighting no-fault evictions (and, without becoming political, certain parties are pushing it more than others). They may be aware of resources and people who can provide assistance but they can also monitor that letting agency

Good afternoon !

  1. (A long one)
    It's one week since I resolved to post (or boost) something positive on here each day. I did it except for one day where I thought I had but it turns out that was the previous day. Still, it helped me get out of my head and feel more 'out there' which feels important because I often feel isolated as an introvert working from home permanently.

  2. It's snowing. I'm not always fond of snow but have a new appreciation for it since visiting Norway in December

  3. I'm lying on my bed for 10 minutes with two kittens lying on me and purring away. They rock.

Back to work then - I'm feeling slightly tired and unwell but guess I need to push through for now

Alot of pictures tonight of Suitcase vinyl players. Please stop! The fact the vinyl record is tilted means its not on a sturdy platform to remain flat and is being warped and broken slowly along with the cheap cartridge breaking the grooves on the record.. You can buy some decent 2nd hand or ok starter players for like ยฃ100+

Its 's one year anniversary
Im still a bit under the weather so havent done anything to celebrate it. There was talk of a meetup but honestly looking at the weather and my cold its probably best skipped.

Anyway Cupoftea.social has kept me going for the past year. Ive been in and out of work having been messed about so its always nice to have something to go back to.

I am Humbled that something I created is bringing people happiness in some form.

I generally scrape by month to month partially from not having work and partially down to having a vinyl record habit that is so bad my local shop sign up to keep me and others informed. ๐Ÿ˜„โ€‹

People have been more than generous with donations keeping it going. My biggest problem/worry is not having enough monthly to see it through one month to the next.

On the backend /technical of things theres been a couple of issues but all part of the learning curve for me.

I hope you'll join me in having a mug of tea/coffee today.

My post-holiday resolution has been to try be more outgoing on Mastodon, less reserved. I stopped going out much in July so this is a much-needed window into the outside world.

My today is part of a gift set from my brother for my 50th birthday.

  1. - looks plain but I love this mug. My friend JC bought it as a housewarming gift back in 2004 when we still lived in Jo'burg. We brought the set with to UK & it's still going strong. The cups each have a different colour inside. We'd not known JC long in 2004 but we're going to her wedding later this year. I love long friendships

It's Friday! Fridays are my favourite day & I'm excited because we're going to Ocean Basket (a South African chain) in Bromley for dinner. I'm looking forward to calamari done the SA way.

It's 13 days since I got fed up of seeing my partner's Peloton gathering dust in my study. I rage-purchased cycling cleats and gave it a try. 16 workouts later and I think I've found my 'thing'. I'm feeling better for it although it didn't magically make my grief go away. It didn't make it worse though either & I'm feeling stronger for it

Pebbles, my emotional support cat. We recently celebrated her two year adoptoversary and she went from terrified semi-feral rescue to sassy floof. Her official title is Princess Pebbles, Angelicus Kitty-Cattiness III.

  1. We went to on Saturday to see Morph's Adventures in London. It was a lot of fun, albeit wet, and we shared a great meal with friends

I'm quite tired today - spent the weekend decorating my lounge. It's the first time I've done painting and decorating since 2000. The room is looking great - can't wait to pull away the frog tape, clean the carpet and hang up my artworks

Morning everybody. Second day on . My today is a Temple Bar mug that a grateful colleague bought me after they got in a pickle on a business trip to Dublin and I sorted it out.

I've had it at least 11 years because I left that role in 2012

@Whiskeyomega omg, right? We spent 36 hours in Dublin just after Christmas and it was all round exorbitant. I could have flown to South Africa for less than that trip cost me. Luckily my bestie lives down the coast so we went to visit them
