I've talked about Erin Meyer's "Culture Map" because it opened my eye to a lot of intercultural interactions I have in both, my everyday and my work life.
And about Marcin Wicha's "Things I Didn't Throw Out" because it made me laugh and cry at the same time + made me fall in love with Daunt books because I would not have found out about the book without them.
@vicgrinberg “From Strength to Strength” lessons on making that transition as you age and inevitably decline. I keyed in particularly on the section about lacking real relationships vs transactional friends mostly from work. Having to answer that question “ how many real friends do you have?” was sobering. I’m trying hard to shift my mindset to ‘prioritize prople and relationships over work.’
Microsoft is refusing to let me update an older (Thinkpad T460) laptop to the most recent version of Windows 10 (it won't run Windows 11 at all, which is fine since I don't want to use it).
Install/upgrade fails every time with obscure error codes that defy troubleshooting.
Next step: Ubuntu 22.04, which is the most recent version of that Linux flavor and works great on older hardware.
Note: I've been running Linux as my primary OS for more than a decade...
@dangillmor i was going to make the ubuntu suggestion but you’re already there. I am about 2 weeks into experimenting moving my main work laptop to ubuntu studio. Its an old pos dell. So far its going very well. I’ve yet to hit a snag or find something that didn’t work. It’s far easier and more friendly than my experiments with it years ago.
For those of you considering starting something with Patreon, it's fully moved into late stage enshitification.
This poor creator was given $583 by their patrons, and Patreon took $109 of it in fees. 🤦♀️
Go use Ko-fi, they're still run by humans who actually care about creators and don't try and screw them at every opportunity. Also consider Ghost.org. They're working hard to make an Open Source Patreon style platform w/ NO fees beyond simple hosting cost.

@Shanitoba I love pizza and make it way too often. Todays pizza; white flour and semolina crust infused with garlic and rosemary. The sauce was a homemade roasted pinnapple mango sauce mixed with a little adobo sauce. Topped with purple onion, red pepper, homemade smoked salmon and banana peppers. Cheese was a dill cheddar with some romano. Was great, ate it all, no regrets.
