Not sure if I've shared this before but here's a little UserStyle I wrote to remove the 3 review paywall from Common Sense Media dot org. The site is pretty handy for finding family movies and shows to watch with our daughter. Anyways, enjoy!
@phocks I like the reviews by kid, not 10, this movie is appropriate for 10 hear old kids & I am a very much older kid not 10 but a 10 year old would be able to handle it no problem
Swift'd be fun, but I'd be throwing away Windows & probs Linux builds, & while it can be pretty the 3rd party libraries aren't great. Plus selling my soul to Apple.
I could do with the Rust practice, but there's always the chance I'd lose my mind. One more bad dice roll & it's off to the attic to draw paintings of impossible angles & that one abandoned church steeple in the distance where the howling buzz comes from...
@mogoh theoretically yes, in practice, in my experience any way, not really.
On Linux it can be done if there are no Appleland specific dependencies, Foundation etc, that's not usually the case, & isn't here I don't think. On Windows last I looked you couldn't have any dependencies at all. I'll see how they both go, I have an open mind. :0110:
The CEO of WordPress uses his tentacles to extract adrenochrome from you while you sleep & shoots random users in the face while kicking puppies according to internal documents, I hear.
Here's why it's still a good idea to use WordPress for your site...
"The web isn’t fun anymore because instead of being a space used for weird creative expression, it’s been turned into a business, and turning anything into a business sucks all the fun and joy out of it. I really think it’s as simple as that."
As problematic as politics is in Australia, I regularly give thanks we have a) a preferential (ranked) voting system so we're not forced to vote strategically for the two big parties; and b) compulsory voting, which dilutes the effect of extremists.
We still have the same problems everyone else has, of the rich and corporate over-influencing politicians, but those two things help moderate that particular evil.
(We need to move on to proportional representation too, as the big parties are down to a third of the vote each now. But that's another story.)
One guy going back to work on activitypub stuff at Tumblr next year (some time) (maybe), & only 4,000+ installs & 900+ installs for the federated plugins for all of WordPress.
Cue people saying "but having no users is good actually".
