I'm currently setting up an account with the popular and well-rated pension provider PensionBee. They insist I set up multi-factor authentication (which sadly is simply SMS-based). But in order to actually use the account they're insisting I need to send them a photo of my passport for ID purposes, in a regular email.
I guess this is one instance where the payment industry is doing a good thing by forcing everyone to move to MFA, but privacy & identity protection lags behind and is unregulated.

@grifferz it does seem weird. Especially in that industry. You would have thought there was a portal of some kind to upload directly to your account

    @pwaring That's weird. That is the plugin I would use and recommend.

    I can see the "hasnโ€™t been tested with the latest three major releases of WordPress." but can also see that the 0.8.1 release was only 5 months ago, so surely we've only had two WP versions since then?!

    @pwaring Been using this really well for clients giving access to their staff, then disabling all options bar "email", so that their IT can automatically restrict access just by stopping access to the corp email account ๐Ÿ‘

    @optimisey I had something like that come up in my feed earlier in the year.

    After a bit of digging I learnt that the BBC has a whole news feed in Pidgin that seems to confuse Google!

    UK followers: It's that time of year again when I remind you all to book your flu vaccination (available in September but you can book now). Most pharmacy chains offer it and might be quicker than your GP. Free if you have a qualifying condition (or are over 65), the rules aren't the same as COVID boosters (you might be eligible for flu but not CV19). ยฃ10-15 if you have to pay, or your employer might give you a voucher.

    I'm just deleting the Twitter widgets from my sites. I saw someone claim that Wordpress had added a Mastodon widget instead, but I can't find it. Do we have an RSS feed we can export?

    Made so much progress in the last couple of years. Always worth taking a step back when youโ€™re Inc the thick of it with deadlines and life happening at breakneck pace.

    20 years in business, cleared all debt, got a home, started a new properly business, started an investment business to be part of the pension planning, treated myself to a new car, spent time with awesome people and broke free of the things that had become a problem.

    It really isnโ€™t all that bad on reflection.
