I really need to learn how to weld. However, if I did weld, I'd be that strange guy with all kinds of random metal object sculptures in the front yard. 🤪 Really, just need to find some second hand equipment (based entirely on YouTube videos, not much different than soldering... except on a much larger scale)

@ai6yr if you understand soldering you should be able to pretty quickly pick up welding, at least gas welding. The other types have their own quirks to learn. But essentially boils down to “get a molten blob going and keep it moving down the joint”

This is the "Taskbar" in Windows 11, which has now achieved its final form as a 100% clone of the Dock that was introduced on Macs about 22 years ago (and in similar form on NeXTSTEP about 34 years ago).

@thomasfuchs had a draft saved almost along these same lines. It’s infuriating how long she stayed in her position with everyone knowing how bad she was getting.

I highly recommend folks never purchase garage door stuff. Goes down often and is hostile towards folks integrating with it. They’ve actively tried to stop from working with it. They eventually probably want us to pay subscriptions to be able to open our garage doors with their app. It’s silly.

    3. Not getting tracked by data brokers
    4. Not getting infected by ransomware via vulnerable ad networks

    @thomasfuchs ads started off like traditional billboards. Then marketers started abusing more and more technology to chase after a gross “we will build personas on everyone” goal. People are done with being tracked and manipulated online.

    @GossiTheDog that truly sucks. Microsoft has made strides with their PC app but syncing saves and downloading content/patches feels like a crap shoot, not to mention how slow it is

    Animatronics programming has come a long way. While the old-school board is way cooler-looking, now it seems they just use Maya!

    This makes a ton of sense — Walt Disney Imagineering has access a lot of talented 3D animators, and they can create a rig that matches the movements/limitations of the animatronic.

    Regarding MGM Resorts - while there are reports things are fixed, this very definitely isn’t true.

    I’ve been monitoring their on prem network border - everything is down still. DMZ, WAN etc.

    YouTube is starting to get this too. I was watching a video about something something space. Within 10s, it felt like something was off with the voice. Within a minute, it was clear the edit, script and voice had been automated to a huge degree at best. The title was the only good bit.
