The bundles are coming:

  • Disney+, Hulu, Max mash up their original content with content from ABC, Fox, TNT, TBS, CNN, Discovery Channel, Food Network, & more

  • ESPN, Fox Sports, Discovery are combining forces for a sports channel bundle

So we went from cable bundles, to cord cutting, to paying for internet and more bundles.

This does not feel like a win for consumers. More like a shuffling of the deck.

@davemark Yep, but this always seemed inevitable to me. There’s a reason there were bundles of cable packages in the first place. This is just the nature of the beast.

Apple TV Remote is now only in control center on iPhone.

And only an app on Apple Watch.

If Apple’s differentiates itself with deep hardware-software integration, it sometimes has glaringly odd software-software integration failures.

@davemark Unless there is some huge vertical market like education that is still buying 9th gen iPads, I can’t see that one still hanging around. That would mean the Original Apple Pencil would still need to hang around. With rumors of a new Apple Pencil debuting tomorrow as well, they’d need to introduce a new Apple Pencil Case accessory to hold all your Apple Pencils if they keep the original Apple Pencil around!

@davemark @gruber Alternatively, you can press the Sleep/Wake button rapidly 5 times in a row to accomplish the same task. I find this easier to do than trying to squeeze and hold two buttons.

Anyone I know have the Aer Go Pack 2? How is the laptop protection? I figure it's minimal but is it passable?

@christianselig I have the Aer City Pack Pro and the laptop protection is top notch in that bag. But it has a separate laptop compartment and I see that the Go Pack 2 does not. So the comparison likely isn’t relevant. This is my first Aer product and I got it to carry my Apple Vision Pro and my laptop and all accessories. It works great for that and seems to be very high quality.

As to the kill and start over issue? Question is, is the basic architecture flawed or just the user facing parts?

Either way, I think Siri is the anchor dragging Apple's brand.

@davemark I don’t understand that negativity towards Siri. It works great for me. It’s not perfect and sometimes it fails, but those times are rare for me. When I interact with Siri, it’s in the high 90 percentile of doing what I expect and want.
Maybe others have unrealistic expectations for Siri. I find Siri much better than Alexa or Google. Maybe I just naturally stick to using Siri for what it is good at. I use it for sports info, news, music, reminders, timers, HomeKit, and Shortcuts.

@davemark Right. I guess that’s the challenge with a product like Siri. I don’t have those issues that you describe. I don’t know why I don’t and you do. I have 8 HomePods throughout my house and I use Siri on my phone and watch also and it does the right thing for me nearly every time.
I did set the HomePods to only activate with “Hey Siri” and my phone and watch activate with just Siri, so I can target my phone and watch by just using Siri if I don’t want the HomePods involved.

Google is your friend here, but I always found this problem fascinating. There are a number of solutions, both mathematical and philosophical.

@davemark The problem is that the word “fair” means different things to different people. Thus there is no universal way to solve the problem when the word fair and more than one person is involved.
The only answer is that nothing is fair and everyone must deal with that fact.
