I’m not sure you understand, but it’s Trump’s goal to completely destroy what little democracy is left in the US. If he gets elected, that means he’ll have unchecked power. He’ll probably have his political enemies killed, congress will let him get away with it, and then we’ll be left with one party rule.

W never said anything about wanting to be a dictator, and there has never been a case go before the supreme court to decide whether any act as president is legal either during or immediately following the W presidency. If trump wins, the court rules in his favor, anything he does will go unchecked. and it wouldn’t just be him, once he dies he’d just be succeeded by the next fascist the Party decides to push.

I’d choose the bear. A bear would probably leave me alone if i yell at it and make myself look big. A human would probably cry if i did that to them.

I used to live in central Louisiana. When I talked to the people I used to work with, it was very clear that they are in favor of what would be considered to be socialist. The MAGA folks really can be comrades if we just reach out to them like human beings and try to communicate to them on their level without being too condescending.

The hard part will be convincing them that people they don’t like deserve basic human rights. The right wing religious propaganda has really taken hold of them in that regard.

remember when mandela actually became president of south africa after spending 27 years in prison, he made a speech and said something like “the boers are no longer our enemy, they are our countrymen.” Basically, they are our enemy now, because they’ve fallen victim to the propaganda that’s been fed to them by the television they watch, the online communities they frequent, the churches they go to and the radio personalities they listen to. But if one can reach out to them, talk to them and get them to listen and hear, then it might be possible to deprogram them from those hateful stances they hold against people who are not like them.

For example, one can try to talk to them about immigration by asking why they don’t like immigration. they might respond like “the immigrants take our jobs”, which is the lie that is told to them so that they want to fight other working class people instead of focusing that fight on the people who actually are responsible for their suffering: the wealthy.

if people were evacuating on a train, that would be absolute chaos. It would be standing room only, people would be packed together as tightly as possible, everyone would try to save at least one large material possession and they’d either take up space with it, fight with someone who touched it on accident, or fight with the emergency responders for saying they can’t bring it along.

are there any actual sources that adding more lanes does more harm than good? People bitch about it all the time and i always hear the “one more lane” joke going around, but I’ve never actually seen any papers or articles about it. Just pictures of large highways with traffic jams.

Airman was in a Special Ops squadron, if I read the article right.

Fun fact, for every one person who graduates special ops training in the air force, something like 20 others fail and go on to do other jobs in the air force.

Even if he never saw action, he went through hell and back just in training. Just so he could be murdered in his own home by a florida cop.
