some books today, when in town I rarely skip ABC.nl .. @pluralistic "The Bezzle", and two "Ghost Dog"-inspired purchases (re-watched the Jim Jarmush movie last weekend), "Hagakure, the secret way of the Samurai" Yamamoto Tsunetomo translated by A. Bennett and "Rashomon and Seventeen Other Stories" Ryunosuke Akutagawa Translated by J. Rubin, with introduction by Murakami. Now that my commute is picking up again these will hopefully be excellent train ride reads..

@pluralistic On the other hand, I do think the CHIPS act has been a lot better than the tariff war - policy improvement being the goal. You also could mention how international law is being leveraged to sue countries wanting to prevent climate change, etc - this is an old article, but the law is being abused even more now... https://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/jun/10/obscure-legal-system-lets-corportations-sue-states-ttip-icsid

Just when I'm about to leave London. I'd like this optimism to carry onto my new path, and hope it can accompany the listener in their path. This song is a lullaby to calm down a scared and excited heart, a love song to new beginnings.

I've been sending messages out to people in the past few days shortly telling about my art and activism and the devastating impact the war in had on me and my family. This situation led me to 4 months of about 10 panic attacks a day and a psychiatric emergency. I couldn't work for months. My only work is my art which is also very expensive to produce. I don't mean to bother you. If you don't like it, tell me, block me if you want. But why report me? Why make it harder than it already is?

I am genuinely pro-tech-regulation. And yet, regulating self-driving cars is the easy case: clear possible harms (and benefits if well-regulated!); only a couple of key players; multiple established regulators. It should be a simple, clear MVP for future AI regulation. And yet we’re making a complete mess of it.

@luis_in_brief As I still want to know if the driver who first hit the pedestrian actually stopped before the driverless car moved a car length (would a human actually do better? DID the human who hit the pedestrian do better, or run away?), I think we have bigger issues with Cars as surveillance machines first. - https://foundation.mozilla.org/en/blog/privacy-nightmare-on-wheels-every-car-brand-reviewed-by-mozilla-including-ford-volkswagen-and-toyota-flunks-privacy-test/
