Fun fact: Even tho Polish railroads use the standard track gauge (1435 mm) and the fact we have some small sections of the Russian gauge (1520 mm) lines, mostly connecting Poland with Ukraine, there is one domestic railway line that stretches nearly 400 km and uses the Russian gauge tracks.

It's "Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa" (Broad Gage Metallurgy Line) or LHS and was specifically constructed in the 1970s to transport heavy freight, mainly ores of iron.

It's so weird and unique that its maintenance and operation is handled by a separate subsidiary company of the Polish National Railways - PKP LHS.

@arstechnica i really like the idea of state-(co)owned open access wholesale ISPs that provide access to network to all interested ISPs while providing infrastructure to people.

Internet stopped being that weird thing for nerds a long time ago and has been an absolute necessity for a while now.

Fast broadband access has to be regulated on the same rules as electricity – coverage must be provided at fair rules and pricing to everybody who's interested, because it's a basic utility in modern world

My bank doesn't let me stay logged in for longer than 10 minutes and makes it painfully obvious they want to force me into using the mobile app

They have very questionable and eyebrow rising policies like "log in by providing randomly selected characters from your password instead of the entire thing" which makes using an actually strong, secure password from a password manager a huge pain also WHAT THE FUCK HOW DO YOU KNOW MY PASSWORD AND NOT JUST THE HASH + SALT??!?!??!? (plaintext storage???)

And ofc they do not support WebAuthn/U2F keys and "do not have any plans to add support"
