@resmo You're moving the goal posts here. The previously released BSD code from redis is still BSD up until 7.4. Future versions are relicensed with BSD license files in tact. The difference between redis doing this and redict is that redis didn't need to fork it. Also, Redis is the original work copyright holder, which means they have further rights than redict here. Again, BSD is not copy-left.
@alcinnz@alexzeitler@resmo from discord etc I've not seen anything that would indicate they are serious about VCs or MSFT. The change appears quite innocuous.
That said, changing a licence without any discussion or explanation feels a bit off, as people in some work situations may have to get all licences scrutinized for legal reasons and this puts them in a spot.
I never bought the "cheeper, easier, faster" claim but it's true, it's much more convenient for a startup company or a "one man company" (like me) to grow and scale. But at a certain point in the cloud, you might have become "the cloud" so I guess it just evolutionary to build your own.
If you haven't looked at it yet, I can recommend #htmx.
A "custom" extension to html as a #JavaScript library. In a way that one might think "this should have been built in the web standard and available in browser without an additinal library".
@resmo much of people’s disappointment comes from how they’ve used a permissive license to build that community, and then pulling the rug from under their contributors, advocates and ambassadors.
