Will never truly understand 🇩🇪 Especially the card payment stuff.

Almost every morning I grab a snack or salad from a high foot-traffic shop in MUC. There is always a queue of ~ 15 people waiting to pay at the only cash desk.

I walk in, grab stuff, pay with my 🍏 watch at one of the 3 available and free self-scan + cashless payment terminals and walk out within less than a minute 🤷🏽‍♂️

Every few weeks the same thing with Signal for Mac. Same for WhatsApp. Only iMessage gets this right and treats non-phone devices as first-class clients that can actually log in on their own.

@codinghorror @u47 that's ok, I disagree with the academy awards often. But not always: I loved Nomadland (2021), for instance. CODA (2022) I haven't seen (hadn't even heard of the film).

They're not the holder of "objective good taste” anyway (I'd even argue that that doesn't exist), and they have a lot of clear misses to prove it (quick google: https://parade.com/1350972/maramovies/oscar-snubs/ )

@dimillian oh noes. Dependency injection without declaration is not a pattern I look forward to seeing often. Swift is meant to be safe, and Environment is a source for runtime errors.

I live here since 15 years (with 4 years of Paris in between), so if you ever want to come back I can show you how much it has changed (for better and for worse). There's car free Sunday next Sunday, ideal occasion ;)

My SwiftUI app Super Headache is built with my own async/await-based TCA-like framework. It was so intellectually satisfying to build. These beautiful puzzle pieces that connect together in these magical ways. But I have a strong distaste for it because it feels too much like engineering for the sake of engineering.
