@dgar @UkeleleEric @Judeet98 @DoubleTreble @MaJ1 my husband is a computer guy from the UK who has set every appliance in our home into metric and/or 24hr time display. i now know how much i weigh in kilos but have no idea how many pounds i weigh. (maybe that's just as well, tbh...) i have temperature benchmarks in my head-- 0 is 32 (duh), 16 is 60 (they rhyme), 23 is 72 (room temp), 38 is 100 (too hot)... km are still beyond me.

@riversidebryan @RickiTarr oh dude, my 2x great grandfather -- biggest brick wall ever. supposedly his surname was actually that of his adoptive family, not his original name. nobody who would remember it was is still living. he came from east prussia which is now poland; i have the name of the place but records from there are either damaged or missing. my grandma said "oh i think the name sounded like [whatever]" but it's just too vague to even know what to look for.

I keep seeing anti-gun regulation people with signs and t-shirts that read "Ban idiots, not guns" and as a person who's read a whole lot of data and statistics on gun ownership and safety, I have some real bad news for them...

Whenever my husband sees someone on the side of the road he'll stop to help, he doesn't think anything about it. All I can imagine is the ways it could go horribly wrong, and I'll end up assaulted or murdered. It's a whole different world.

@RickiTarr @smellsofbikes my husband is completely unaware of this phenomenon. we were out somewhere late, and as we approached our car in the lot, i said "ok, nobody under the car, nobody hiding in the back seat, we're good" and he was like "why on earth would anybody do that?" uh..... wow, do you not have ANY idea how much shit a woman has to constantly be aware of at all fucking times??!

Phone Technology Question!

The hubs and I were having a discussion about Apple continually releasing new iPhones without any actual innovation. That lead us to a few questions, that I, of course, said, Well, I'll ask Mastodon about it! So here goes:

Have we reached as far with Phone Technology, as it exists as a rectangle piece of hardware in your pocket, as we can?

Is the future in software?

What about a better version of Google Glass?

Are we heading towards implants?

Please don't mention anything with a see through screen, literally no one wants other people to see what they are doing on their phone! LOL

@RickiTarr what i really miss are phones with ACTUAL DAMN KEYBOARDS like the blackberry, or my favorite, the t-mobile sidekick. i was SO SAD when i had to replace my sidekick because that was the point at which everyone stopped making them and all the new phones had on-screen keyboards that are a huge pain in the ass. still hate 'em.
