Senior Conservatives face mounting pressure to describe Lee Anderson's attack on Sadiq Khan as "Islamophobic" as the row over his comments entered its fifth day.

Ministers repeatedly declined to use the term to describe the former Tory deputy chairman's comments, with Home Office minister Michael Tomlinson forced to deny that he and his colleagues had been instructed not to use the word ...

Many people are blaiming the SNP for the fiasco over the Gaza vote. Perhaps they did set a trap for Labour, but it was a trap Keir Starmer could easily have avoided by using a Labour Opposition Day to put forward his own preferred wording. He didn’t. That is not the fault of the SNP. If Labour did not like the SNP wording, some negotiations beforehand could have resolved that, but instead Labour lied about making contact.
No Party comes out of this well, but Labour made a real mess of things.

I think the SNP can hold their head high! They are now the only elected party to initiate such a motion in Westminster. If we were waiting on 'Kid Starver', we'd still be waiting!

Another clumsy attempt by a sub ed to capture a complex and balanced article. It is worth reading, but the backlash is only too predictable.

‘But, he added, “huge numbers of Palestinian civilians are trapped in the middle. Israel is not at war with the Palestinian population but with Hamas.” Ordinary people were suffering, and more than a million were trapped in Rafah with nowhere to go’

    • is unreported in The Guardian, The Times, The Fail

    • is reported in the Independent - which states estimated numbers but has a headline about 12 people arrested (out of reported 200,000
