As a kind-hearted individual, I strongly believe in the power of kindness and advocate passionately for mental health, promoting awareness, understanding, and mindfulness in our daily lives. Having experienced the challenges of ADHD, depression, and generalized anxiety disorder, I empathize with the difficulties of navigating an unsupportive environment. Together, let's build a brighter future through opportunities and amplifying voices.

Almost everyone who says "Mastodon didn't work for me" on Bluesky seems to have posted only "me me me" stuff for months (if that) on Mastodon, followed about 10-20 people, never replied to anyone and then gave up because "nobody there, it didn't fly".

It seems there is a big misunderstanding how this free and healthy social media works. We are not here for the easy wins, likes, shares and dopamine spikes. We are here because we accept the fact we are not part of the commercial hype machine. We choose natural engagement over spoiling algorithms, we choose conversation and meaning in our social media. At least that is how I see it.

@Catiearms @rolle I have been on Bluesky for a while now. For me at the moment, it feels a little like a ghost town, but perhaps I just need more friends on there?

“Wherever you get your podcasts” is a radical statement. - "What podcasting holds in the promise of its open format is the proof that an open web can still thrive and be relevant, that it can inspire new systems that are similarly open to take root and grow." https://www.anildash.com//2024/02/06/wherever-you-get-podcasts/ @anildash

@sldrant @anildash But "selling out" to the highest bidder is not where I want to go. Also, Open Standards FTW!

    I’ve been thinking a lot about this. Sometimes I don’t understand people and often times they don’t understand me. I take many things literally, I think about stuff in my own way. I love numbers and I have niche hobbies I’m very passionate about. I live inside my own head, I love written communication and I hate speaking on the phone (24/7 silent mode). I get easily anxious and suffer from anxiety disorder. This has been my whole life.

    See where I’m getting at with this? In my anxiety I wonder if I could get to the bottom of it and figure out do I have a diagnose for autism. But I’d rather not, because I am somehow not comfortable with the whole idea as I have been only getting used to being a person with anxiety for the past couple of decades. Rather not add more labels for myself in vain.

    schalkneethling,
    @schalkneethling@hachyderm.io avatar

    @rolle It is a tough one. Some people find it freeing to have a diagnosis. For them, it kinda validates the way they feel and "proves" to others that it is not "all in their head".

    I have been living with generalized anxiety disorder and depression for pretty much my entire life and so, I can relate. In the end whatever works for you is the way to go. If more "labels" are not going to prove helpful, then there is probably not much utility in going down the diagnosis road.

    Bluesky enthusiasts are stating that Bluesky has ”plans” to make ATProto universal and transfer it to W3C or the like. Well, there is no evidence that Bluesky wants to give up control or the protocol is going to be widely adopted after 5 years of development so forgive me being sceptical. The story is a bit different with ActivityPub.
