Supreme Court to rule that nobody is above the law except presidents—presidents are above the law. And lawless ones most of all are above the law, since they are the ones who test it out. And when they get back in office for a second time after trying to illegally stay in office, their authoritarian seizure of limitless power will be limited, not by law, which will have given them carte blanche, but by the good graces we can depend on them having. Brilliant. At least they’ve thought it through.
@ivory Hi there. Small request based on my usage of the hashtag button above the keyboard when making a post. When you try to add a hash to a word you’ve used earlier in your post, putting the cursor before the word, it creates a space between the hash and the word. I don’t know if there’s a benefit to this behavior for other users. For me, it feels awkward.
@ivory I realize that and have, of course, used it that way, but I wondered why it couldn’t do both, why it couldn’t be a shortcut to the hash, for whatever use, and why it creates that space. I’m sure you have your reasons. As I said, I just couldn’t see what they might be.
@Robotron I feel like even the people the sensitivity warnings are meant to protect will be clicking on these images to see what they’re missing.
Unless they’re used to block off certain content from young people who use Mastodon — maybe that’s the purpose (?), I’m kind of against them, particularly when they’re used for innocuous imagery that only the over-pious or over-sensitive could ever be triggered by.
Here's to all the dudes drafting new fantasy racks on #ModWiggler today. As has been said elsewhere, this planning / concept phase is sometimes as much fun as playing with actual modules. I have two racks. I'm considering a no-filter set-up for one (well, except for band pass, but still — pretty radical for me). For the other, a 208 hp rack with just 16 hp of oscillator?
@flockofnazguls Just looking at the Toppobrillo Cluster. It's actually 410 plus shipping. It's a useful suite of functions, but still — seems a bit crazy.
Antony Gormley's memorial to Alan Turing has been unveiled in #Cambridge.... In the end whether you like or not will depend on whether you think a memorial should be directly representational (i.e. look like Turing) or whether an artist should respond in their own way to the subject.
In fairness no #publicart is going to please everyone, but at least its good to see public art actually being done.... even if its effectively on private land (in the grounds of Kings College).
@ChrisMayLA6 I'm all for non-representational art, especially since it forces us, in a way that statues don't, to ask ourselves if it's "good" or not, and why. That's much more interesting than just determining whether or not it's a good likeness.
I imagine this envelope generator was designed with sort of standard keyboard applications in mind, but I think it might have a lot of potential in generative patches.
Or maybe I'm just itching to buy something new. I bought only one other module this year.
@flockofnazguls I have the Quadrax as well. It's a powerhouse. There is so much under the hood of that module. I mean, you could completely ignore its EG applications and still use it in every patch. I use its lfo and random lfo a lot. And it has all those irregular waveforms, etc. Just looking for something for my second rack, and I'm drawn to Doepfer modules recently for their lack of buried functions and for their straightforward but fully-realized designs.
I was told by someone my own age that I had to get into Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and that I had to start at the very beginning. I’ve watched six episodes and it’s so, so bad. #anime
