Okay, I totally suck at flower/tree/plant identification, so I don't know what these are, but they're in front of my mom's house. Hydrangeas, maybe? #bloomscrolling
One of the horses mentioned in the whistleblower report was my favorite schoolhorse, Maisey, whom I rode regularly 20-ish years ago when I was training in dressage. I also rode two other horses mentioned, Jack and Abby. Maisey was the last mount I had; my doctors made me quit riding due to back issues and my final time in the saddle was 14 years ago with her. (The anniversary was yesterday)
I have been sobbing real tears over the neglect and overwork that these senior #horses experienced at Golden Gate Park.
About a month ago I kind of disappeared from this place. Some personal and family problems threw me out of the writing headspace and keep me busy. Patience is required of which I don't have much. Nothing dangerous though, don't worry. I'm slowly getting back into the writing, at least with microfic.
I think I'll be back in June with a different story, more gritty, fitting my mood. 😉
Eventually I'll find the energy to interact here again.
To those Americans getting offended that their president and country are being criticised for arming a genocide may I just remind you that there is something a tad more offensive than being criticised for arming a genocide which is arming a goddamn genocide. Get some fucking perspective.
I think the problem here is that Biden's hands are tied by our treaty with Israel -- which has the force of law unless and until rescinded. It's pretty clear (at least to me) that Biden sees Netanyahu for the despot that he is ... so he has to walk a careful line.
We look after a colony of feral cats. At long last, our local #TNR has reopened, and we got two cats in for neutering. We also got an ailing kitten in for veterinary care at the local shelter so that she could be treated and placed for adoption.
@Adam_Cadmon1 I grew up in a family of subsistence hunters, and I couldn't agree with you more. There is a huge difference between putting food on the table and 'bagging a trophy.'
The Supreme Court has made horrible decisions in recent years, and it's impossible to top Dobbs for harm caused ... but I’m scared that the decision in Grants Pass v. Johnson and what comes after will break my heart completely 😢
@peterbutler I grew up in Oregon. Grants Pass has always been ... something. The utter lack of compassion being shown to our unhoused brothers and sisters in all of these cases is sickening.
Quote from article: In an extraordinary press conference last week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) acknowledged that challenges to books in the state's school libraries are out of control. Over the course of the event, DeSantis blamed teachers, school officials, "random people," community members, "bad actors," and the media. DeSantis pointed the finger at everyone except for the person most responsible: himself.
