We look after a colony of feral cats. At long last, our local #TNR has reopened, and we got two cats in for neutering. We also got an ailing kitten in for veterinary care at the local shelter so that she could be treated and placed for adoption.
"Even if nationalism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries were not fundamentally racist (it was), there could be no doubt that the far-right #nationalism on offer today is. ...
national belonging satisfies not a political need but rather a baser human one, a need for meaning and belonging. If that is indeed the case, we are likely living not through the twilight of nationalism but rather its violent rebirth."
Multi-tasking today, as I drop my cat trap for catching feral wildekitties off with a friend who wants to #TNR a female stray cat in heat. Spaying the kit will help her health greatly and also stop the neighbours getting annoyed with the howls of her suitors! Then… tennis 🎾 where we can picture smacking stray cat sadness out of the city.
MaCat's dental bill in September. One (!) tooth out. I mentioned back then, more bad teeth needed to go. And it's getting time for the procedure. It'll be appr. €450 to extract all teets on the right side. I really cannot afford it at the moment. If you can't contribute, maybe you can boost this post 🤞✨🐾 I will update asap. I am ALL FOR any program that results in more spay/neuter surgeries for pets.
And for $50 you can have a feral cat in South Jersey named after your ex and then neutered on #ValentinesDay . Because, as Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center said on Instagram, "Some things shouldn't breed."
In all my years of shelter and #TNR work it never occurred to me to do this. 🤯 I guess I just don't have an ex that bad. But it's brilliant.
This chonky tabby has become a frequent visitor at the balcony food bowl and I was girding my loins to put down the trap.
But see here! He has his right ear clipped, indicating that he's already had #TNR!
This is why the ear clipping is great. He can now indulge all he likes, and not have to worry that I'll swoop in and cart him off to the vet for a second de-balling!
Also, someone else is helping with TNR in my neighbourhood...
I like #Verso and #TNR for the most part and downloaded the free ebook mentioned here despite apparent bias. Don't talk to me about the Israel-Palestine crisis by railing on Israel while ignoring the long history of Palestinian terrorists. Hamas is mentioned here once, and not even tied to Loewenstein's argument.
Headline appears deliberately inflammatory.
"Israel Arms the World’s Autocrats—With Weapons Tested on Palestinians"
I’ve just spotted the black and white cat who normally sneaks onto my balcony at 3am! I set the trap for #TNR but accidentally left the scissors out which reveal that I cut the tie that holds the trap open. WILL HE CLUE IN?
Also strong possibility that Casper appears instead and walks right inside 🤦🏼♀️
Success! Dropped off the kitty at the vet clinic for #TNR plus vaccination and parasite treatment. Picking him up again tomorrow night as it’s a quick snip for boys! ✂️
Named him “Mamoru” based on a suggestion by @bluerehn that his tuxedo colouring made him a dead ringer for Sailor Moon’s Tuxedo Mask (whose real name is Mamoru). Showed the picture to the vet assistant, who laughed a lot 😂
I suspect he won’t appear on my balcony again for food for a few days to weeks, but I’ve loaded up the food bowls anyway in case he feels brave. #TNR#RescueCats
LOOK WHO IS BACK! After a couple of weeks sulking (I mean… fair…) our brave Mamoru has snuck back onto the balcony in the deep night and stuffed his face. Looking sleek again, my friend!
I am ever so pleased to see him, as I always feel a bit anxious until they show up again in case the shock of the vet visit caused them to bolt into traffic or something terrible, even though I try to release in a quiet spot in their territory.
