Friends, I'm gonna steal a page from @RickiTarr and ask a QUESTION. What's the best live music show you've been to? Or more accurately, what was your favorite?

I'll go first. For me it was Tears For Fears in 2014. I had just moved to Portland and Project Pabst was having its inaugural season in a hot sweaty gravel pit that was at once stifling and full of glorious potential. I was there mainly for Violent Femmes but I stayed for Tears For Fears because I remembered them mostly as a band my mom liked when she was somewhere around the age I was at the time (early 30s). I went in with zero expectations and was completely blown away. They played the hits without making them feel dated and new stuff without it feeling indulgent. They had enough of the original lineup to stay authentic but enough fresh blood to keep it interesting. I'm currently in a bar that serves strong drinks at a reasonable price and Everybody Wants To Rule The World started playing and brought me back to that amazing show.

So what show was it for you?

@theropologist @RickiTarr Ramones at the Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver, BC in 1984. Met the band backstage after the show and got this pic of Joey with my 35mm camera.

Been working on a cover of Bryan Adams song Run To You and have been struggling a lot with the guitar sound. All of the Les Paul’s have way too much low end & sound really muddy. The amount of EQ required to “fix” this is ridiculous. The Strat actually works really well. So the takeaway is that a $150 Squier works better here than a $6000 Gibson.

Now I know why Bryan plays a Strat.🤔🙄😬😂

@psychictides @GuitarSith @RenewedRebecca @ambergrey Great thread! Just bought a new Dano 59m NOS in silver metalflake for $675 cdn. I totally love it. Very versatile tone, light weight and nice neck. Goes well with my 56 Danelectro baritone. https://danelectro.com/product/59m-nos-metalflake/

@GuitarSith @psychictides @RenewedRebecca @ambergrey The neck and bridge pickups have such different tone, and the two together are like wow. Magic. Nothing quite like it.

@GuitarSith @psychictides @RenewedRebecca @ambergrey Yeah, I had to pick up a new interface with two line inputs to run the stereo Yamaha amp for recording. I found an excellent used Focusrite 4i4 locally on UsedVic still in the box for $150. My new Audient iD4 (which I also recently bought) and my ancient Mackie interface only have one line input. I also needed 2 line inputs for the Korg synth and Korg Wavedrum. Got a 1/4” TRS stereo Y splitter to go out the Yamaha amp’s headphone jack and into the 2 interface line inputs. Works well. So far, the Focusrite is pretty darn good. I think the Audient preamp sounds a bit nicer, but limited in other ways.
