Ihr kennt das doch bestimmt auch, ihr habt eine Musik die ihr gerne hört. Früher oder später stolpert man über eine Band, die als das Nonplusultra gilt. Von Kritik und Publikum total gefeiert wird, aber Euch total langweilt.
Bei mir ist das Led Zeppelin. Sicher grandiose Musiker, aber die Musik langweilt mich.

Gibt es bei euch doch bestimmt auch?

@onkelmarkus Verschwörungstheorien, dass sowohl Gargron (Mastodon) als auch dansup (Pixelfed) mit Meta gemeinsame Sache machen und das Fediverse quasi ausverkauft werden soll. Leute fangen wohl an zu paniken und drehen vollkommen am Rad. Scheinen wohl die beiden zu beschimpfen und Druck auszuüben.

Anlass und Beweise gibt's natürlich wie so oft nicht. Keine Ahnung, wer so einen Mist in die Welt setzt...

@mndflayr ja, während es "ganz früher" tatsächlich noch besser war, ist das Fediverse mittlerweile in vielen Ecken tatsächlich von Idealismus / Extremismus getrieben und politisch grworden. Schade irgendwie, aber wenigstens gibt's da noch andere Ecken wie diese hier :)

Am Ende kann man sich seine Ecke ja zum Glück auch ein bisschen aussuchen.

@onkelmarkus nein, verkaufen kann man es nicht, aber man kann immerhin große Instanzen aufkaufen und so evtl mehr Macht bekommen. Und dann die übliche EEE Strategie

There's a lot of shit flying in the lately and a lot of times perspective seems to get lost. Yes, there are things we need to talk about, and yes there are things we will not agree on. And that's okay.

But leave the pitchforks and torches out of this.

Fedi admins put in the hours and effort and emotion into making fedi happen. Sometimes they make decisions we might not agree with. We should criticize, but we should not pile-on.

Not 100 % sure but I think Lemmy / Kbin and other Reddit alternatives might run into a conceptual shortcoming of the ActivityPub protocol, soon.

The key issue might be that there will never be the photo community. Or the <topic> community. There are communities on every instance, e.g. photos@instance1, photos@instance2, ...

Which makes subscribing to a topic difficult, because as a user I will have to subscribe to multiple communities on multiple instances just to cover one topic ... 😫

What you basically want for those communities is a behavior similar to hashtags.

When I subscribe to a hashtag on Mastodon, I receive "all" the posts about a single topic. Just one subscription.

With Lemmy etc I need to create multiple subscriptions (and find the communities and respective servers, first). Not user friendly.

@lambalicious there is a slight difference between Hashtags on Mastodon and communities on Lemmy: whenever my instance is connected to another instance that has some hashtagged content, the post will find its way to my instance and I can see it.

If I understand correctly, that is not the case with lemmy. photos@instance1 and photos@instance2 will not be related at all. A post from photos@instance1 will not be displayed in the photos@instance2 community feed.

Meta blocked a month ago (later was fixed, multiple ppl can confirm), I’ve tried to be understanding and respectful but why?

I’ve never been contacted by them about p92 and never attended any meetings, do you honestly think I would work with meta????

Although an email delivery problem is solved and the logo is in process, I also need to share some sad news about metalhead.club:

I ran over all recurring donations that have been registered in my system over the past months and noticed that some of them have stopped after a while - some already at the end of 2022. It's a manual process that I need to do from time to time, so I didn't notice earlier.

@t4s the option with the lowest fee is SEPA bank transfer :) (no fee for me).

My 2nd favorite option is Stripe, because it's all automatic (but they take fees: https://stripe.com/de/pricing)
