It’s not a glitch. It's a feature.
Conservatives do not want to raise kids that possess critical thinking skills.

A diverse array of books gave me a level of empathy and a wider world view than I would not have otherwise gotten. They aim to prevent that from happening in other kids.

There is an all-out attack on education occurring.

HISD's Mike Miles will convert some libraries into discipline areas-

@TonyStark If you ever have to stop and think, "Will Republicans come after ____ next?" The answer is yes, they will come after it.

No matter what extremist actions the GOP take, they cannot stop Trump from being indicted yet again. And with President Biden's policies making life better for Americans, Republicans are growing even more desperate and unhinged.

@MeidasTouch this whole thing comes down to an entire political party being unwilling to admit they lost, which has been going on for about three years now.

CNN: "It’s so hot in Arizona, doctors are treating a spike of patients who were burned by falling on the ground... Every single one of the 45 beds in the burn center is full, he said, and one-third of patients are people who fell and burned themselves on the ground. @ai6yr That's insane, I've never heard that before.

@BlippyTheWonderSlug @ai6yr Tires melting into the road? That's nightmare fuel. The sludge of 43rd street.

The situation at the Texas border continues to be deeply alarming. Governor Greg Abbott's inhumane measures, targeting innocent migrants, demand immediate attention. We cannot stand idly by while razor wire traps, water withholding, and dangerous pushbacks endanger vulnerable lives, including children and infants.

This must end.

Join me in demanding that President Biden step in and put an end to these cruel tactics. Let's make our voices heard: https://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/806/513/820/?TAP=2430&source_id=TexasMigrants

@georgetakei If this is what it means to secure the border, we'd be better off without it

Forget F1: the only car race that matters now is the race to turn your car into a digital extraction machine, a high-speed inkjet printer on wheels, stealing your private data as it picks your pocket. Your car's digital infrastructure is a costly, dangerous nightmare - but for automakers in pursuit of postcapitalist utopia, it's a dream they can't give up on.

@pluralistic I hate it that everyone under capitalism is either exploitation or spying or both.

Why is it that when progressive policies that help the bottom 90 percent are proposed, the question always seems to be, "How will you pay for it?"

But when the top 1 percent ask for bailouts, tax cuts, and subsidies, the question always seems to be, "How much do you need?"

trabex,
@trabex@newsie.social avatar

@rbreich The answer comes down to: rich people think that being rich automatically makes one a good person, while being poor automatically makes one a bad person.

Thirteen years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment.

Today, sold-out politicians block progress on all fronts to appease their corporate donors.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.

@rbreich

A good book that deals with the consequences of Citizens United is "States of Neglect" by William Kleinknecht
