Time to move off has finally come. So many to choose from, though. Makes my head spin 😵

I need one with:

  1. Great support (maybe get that webcam working finally)

  2. Smooth & slick / (I'm less of a terminal guy)

  3. Focus on , security-first approach (but not the ones that are made for James Bond)

What do you suggest?

@smallcircles I would definitely say tumbleweed honestly the KDE version at the very least if you want Wayland stuff pretty concurrently. They have yast which takes away a lot of the need to use terminal. But you can use terminal for zypper dup to update if you want

    Standardizing on the USB-C connector is just the tip of the iceberg. There should be an Operating Systems standards body. The OS should be transparent to applications. Application Engineers should be able to write an app once, and it should run on any OS - Windows, Apple Mac, Apple iOS, Android, Linux.

    @fifonetworks personally, I think the USB type C connectors is absolutely terrible and we should’ve thought a little bit more about which one we make the standard. As for software, I definitely disagree purely because UI should never be one-sided or you get something like gnome Linux or windows10/11, and it looks terrible.

    @nixCraft 3d party app stores should never be a thing especially for ios. for the main reason fragmentation an security. An for me :P i refuse to troubleshot issue if thats the case cause i would have no way of knowing where an app came from what the stores policy is an if they will even live up to it. One company that's more locked down an the others more open is fine.

    @tetra let it be a monopoly and let there be tax. At the end of the day no one wants to do tech-support for random garbage that they find somewhere on the Internet. If you don’t like it, you can go with android or Linux phones, or not a smart phone even it’s not like you’re not spoiled for choice. For the non-tech savvy enclosed walled gardens are perfect.

    @tetra then jailbreak. I’m not a really compelling argument, considering a majority of the user base of iOS doesn’t go out of the wall Garden anyway. The one percent that wants this doesn’t have to deal with the implications afterwards. I’m not saying Apple‘s pricing for their App Store cut is OK but a App Store division is something that shouldn’t be on iOS.

    @tetra and you seem to forget the Apple, since Steve Jobs came back never said you have to buy their products if you buy their products you get to use their services if you don’t, you have your freedom. They came up with a device. They came up with the App Store on their device. It’s their choice. There’s a difference between free, and unregulated freedom.

    @darth @yuukayuuka black Desert online, you can definitely do some cool things. But sadly it’s only on PC so I have to have a partition available just to play it and nvidia graphics so no pass-through

    Well with pso dying thanks to the upcoming changes on the 6th i’ll be posting the last of my screenshots, but I’ll never touch the game again till they remove the root kit malware they are adding. I dealt with it in Black Desert and Tara, never again!
    It’s sad cause Linux support was great currently.
