A tale of a new Lemmy instance, a bot infestation, the fallout, and how we dealt with it (lemmy.ninja)
cross-posted from: lemmy.ninja/post/30492...
So what made yall figure it out?
Was having this conversation with some new friends earlier and was curious. When did you guys figure out your sexuality/identity or whatever? Was there a person that helped you or a particular moment or event?
What's the term for Lemmy users?
Lemmies? Lemmings?
When do you find time to cycle?
Mornings? Evenings? Weekends?...
Blocked Instances
Hey fellow Lemmy Users!...
What are your favorite mods?
I'm still waiting on some of the total conversions to get more developed, so I tend to stick to QoL mods. Here are some of mine:...
Finding an instance that blocks least and is least blocked
Is there a way to shop around for a Lemmy instance based on how many instances are blocking it and how many instances it's blocking? For example, I noticed that the lemmygrad.ml instance is relatively popular, but it seems like a lot of other instances block it. It also blocks a bunch of other instances. So, if there are any...
Error trying to find a community
I'm trying to view !projectzomboid from lemmy.one but it just won't show up and lemmy.one/c/projectzomboid@midwest.social says 404 community not found when I'm able to find it on my Midwest.social account any help?
lemmy.ml is overloaded, use other instances instead
This site is currently struggling to handle the amount of new users. I have already upgraded the server, but it will go down regardless if half of Reddit tries to join....
If you create a sub on Lemmy, are you responsible for its moderation? If so, how much of a pain is that, really?
The title, really....
How much of a good idea is to have my own instance just to have my account?
I'm thinking about deploying my own instance where I'd be the only user and most probable I won't have any communities....
One great thing I just realized, there isn't the need for constant rage bait posting
Every time I look at reddit or twitter they're designed to be filled with the most vile or annoying posts imaginable to keep you scrolling and this place just... doesn't have that. It's relieving to not be inherently angry just scrolling through new posts
OC I took a picture of my bike
If/will there be an easy way to host a community without paying for a server?
Such as reddit, will there be some sort of official spot we can go to host our own communication? As a new user I realize there's not a lot of committed I want.
As lemmy grows what games are you hoping for webs of?
I don't quite know the term for the subs yet coming from reddit. But in reddit words what videogame subreddits are you excited to be created over time?...
What are some building subscription list/finding communities Tips and Tricks?
Many newbs are washing up here, myself included. What are good ways to get the most out of Lemmy? (Using Jerboa)...
Upvote vs like
Graphics/UI and #ux are one side of the project, UX that is combined with functionality and design is a slightly different story. Looking at the project from the beginning I was wondering about the sense of mixing upvotes and likes. Of course, I know that this from the functionality of federated applications, but also in them...
