NSFW images should be blurred by default

Although I would like to NSFW content in my timeline, I think its better to have them blurred by default and only visible if I click on it. And any such post from NSFW subreddits should also be blurred by default. Saying this because I noticed a post from a NSFW subreddit in the front-page and it was displayed without any...

I agree, but that setting should exist first though. And if it does, the flagship instance should definitely have it turned on.

Being someone who is on Mastodon and also have to still be on Twitter for professional reasons, I consistently get way more engagement to my posts on Mastodon.

Plus, I have been able to build a larger following in Mastodon within a year than I was able to in Twitter in the eight years or so I have had an account there.

Anybody who expected Mastodon to simply become Twitter minus Elon Musk, was being naive and that didn't exactly happen. But as a platform on its own, Mastodon is a success. As a user, I consistently see more interesting content on Mastodon than Twitter or pretty much any other social media platform (except maybe Reddit till they decided to screw up).

Honestly, I would recommend everyone here who hasn't already to sign up to a Mastodon server in addition to Kbin.

The logins are not federated, only the content is.

FYI, fedia.io is just an instance of Kbin and not a seperate fediverse platform.

The official r/GlobalOffensive at Kbin (www.reddit.com)

As you may have already seen most of Reddit has gone dark including r/GlobalOffensive. We, the mod team of r/GlobalOffensive have created this alternative Counter-Strike community here for people who want to continue discussing Counter-Strike, bypassing Reddit's shenanigans....

This is the reason why the more spread people are across instances, the better it is. That way no single instance will have too much power.

AFAIK fedia.io was set up and is being run by @jerry who is also the admin of the Mastodon instance infosec.exchange. Considering his proven track record as an admin, fedia.io is a solid choice for recommending to people.

CROSSPOST: A small FAQ to hopefully help new users to kbin (updated June 11 17:00 GMT) - kbinMeta - Kilioa Kbin (kilioa.org)

CROSSPOST to a helpful beginners guide to Kbin (the link takes you to a different Kbin instance). Sorry if I did this wrong, I have no idea if there is a proper way to crosspost. Please let me know if there is.

Its kind of like Twitter, and its also where posts from Mastodon show up.

OC How did you end up finding kbin? Did you migrate here from Reddit?

I was initially introduced to Mastodon a few years ago by a close friend and picked up on it quickly given the benefits of not having to deal with advertising, or being shown what a mega-corporation thought I should have to see through algorithms. I have since found a great instance over on cupoftea.social that promotes quality...

I have been in the fediverse for a while now through Mastodon. However, I never felt the need to join more fediverse platforms. But with all that's going on in Reddit, I figured its time to check the fediverse alternatives for the site. The fact that people behind Lemmy has some problematic political views solidified my choice to join kbin.

Hey! Are you a fellow refugee from r/Journalism?

Its meant to be a place to discuss the journalism industry. News articles can be posted but should strictly be about events affecting the industry itself. This is not a place to post plain news stories.

I am dreading the influx of Meta users in federated timelines

A lot of news websites (Indian Express, The Hindu, The Guardian, Moneycontrol, BBC), Reddit (unfortunately looks like it will drop off the list soon), the mastodon instance I am part of, and streaming websites like Prime Video.

How has ur lemmy experience been so far?

Im joining in on the reddit ditching thing, and was kinda worried at first that i wouldnt be able to like use it the way i did reddit as it feels like a whole new place, but after engaging with posts and people and actually being a part of lemmy rather than being lurk mode all the time i was pleasantly surprised with how easy it...

That's the reason why I chose kbin over lemmy. However, beehaw also looks like a pleasant place though.

Mastodon has really good Android and iOS apps. I am looking forward to seeing some good app for kbin.
