Exciting times in the world as we roll out our new transmitter design, with much longer battery life and smarter , thanks to the brilliant DOC Electronics Team. Here’s site lead Petrus with 5 year old Ako. 📸 Dani Whitaker

It’s incredible that Ako is still alive. She hatched with an open fontanelle (the skull didn’t completely fuse) which required world-first surgery by the vets at Wildbase in NZ. Read more here: https://www.massey.ac.nz/about/news/k%C4%81k%C4%81p%C5%8D-brain-surgery-a-world-first/

The miracle of “” is that the words generated actually form sequences which humans process as plausible formulations of sentences in language we know.

@paninid less-figurative "miracles" also exploit pareidolia in the same way, viz finding Jesus in your toast

How has no one ever told me about this brilliant website?

@eoinoneill I think there should be a website that is nothing but launcher icons from windows games.

eoinoneill,
@eoinoneill@mastodon.gamedev.place avatar

@yora what really blew me away was the intractability of the skins, down to the EQ filters.

Makes me wish someone would make a jellyfin interface that behaves roughly like this lol

"A quarter-century into its existence, a company that once proudly served as an entry point to a web that it nourished with traffic and advertising revenue has begun to abstract that all away into an input for its large language models." https://werd.io/view/66460b700123961ccd0a5482

Now that Internet search has been ruined, I'm going to start calling them quests instead of searches.

@JeremyMallin It's not that you're bad at googling, it's just that you're underleveled.

@adriano @JeremyMallin I had an extremely satisfying experience this evening when I typed in a guess at a URL and got exactly what I wanted.

Chinese scientists achieve mass production of optical chips. Such chips are particularly useful for supercomputers and data centers.

Researchers found a way to produce the chips using lithium tantalate, a cheaper material than what was previously used.

This method is expected to help China avoid limitations on advanced chip production from the U.S. 🎉

"There were times when Sinclair ZX Spectrum games were copied over the radio waves across Slovenia. Radio Študent broadcast screeching, beeping and whining, which we recorded on tape and played a game a few hours later." @ben We did this in Poland, too. What a wild thing. The original “wifi.”

ben,

@mwichary It's so cool - feels really old-school hackery in a way. Just lovely.

Like with all new tech allowing abuse…

Rules and regulation needed. The EU is quite active, e.g. with the digital services act…
