I didn’t sleep so good because my neighbour was banging on my front door at 6.30, which woke me up… My mom answered the door and my neighbour was really aggressive (I couldn’t hear the conversation). I had trouble falling back asleep.

Seriously, it wouldn’t have killed you to be less of an asshole to my mother, you fuck face. What happened to being considerate of other people???

This is great but can we please also have Fedora (& Ubuntu, etc.) acknowledge they started shipping operating systems without a functional screen reader when they switched to Wayland and that that’s still the case?

This is not to name and shame. Unless we acknowledge this as an error on par with shipping without monitor support and unless the culture is altered to make accessibility a showstopper, it’ll happen again.

@LiberalArtist Sure, yes. And since that is apparently a perfectly valid workaround, I suggest that – in solidarity, and until screen reader support lands in Fedora, Ubuntu, and any other distribution that ships with Wayland by default – we remove monitor support from Wayland (those whose needs are not met by lack of monitor support in Wayland can still use X).

@LiberalArtist All I’m saying is that if you believe that, then shipping with Wayland without monitor support is also different than “operating systems without functional monitor support.” (Unless your point is that there are different criteria for what is acceptable for sighted people – which, clearly, is the case because those operating systems are shipping with monitor support by default but without screen reader support.)

@sknob @cheeaun @ayo Ah, yes, you’d have to apply spans and a class to those and include that class in the selector of the elements to re-invert to fix it. Which is not a bad idea as you will likely want to provide aria descriptions for them or hide them from screen readers if they’re purely cosmetic.

What if we changed the rules so that if a US presidential candidate that supports arming Israel’s ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people wins, 15,000 American kids are randomly chosen and killed. (Unlike Palestinian kids, they’d be killed as painlessly as possible, not screaming in anguish from having been blown apart by American bombs.)

What would you do? Still vote for Biden as is or move heaven and earth to have him change his policies and/or get the Democrats to pick another candidate?
