Yes, I'll take another #AnswerTheCall this week as well 🤩 They're talking about the latest Monthly Report, the recent charity event, cargo and more 😁 #StarCitizen#Gaming#LinuxGaming
Not sure if this will reach out to anyone who can answer, but I've been learning a bit about the #Nostr protocol, and it claims to be better against censorship and muuuch simpler that #ActivityPub. However, what are the downsides of Nostr, compared to APub? Less censorship = more bots? Simpler protocol = lacking good built-in defences against unknow threats, or something like that?
It took me a while, but I finally got things set up to play #HideousDestructor on Doom. I've been watching @El_Draculo for a while, and I've really wanted to give it a go myself. It was super-easy to set up thanks to #CleanDoom, so tnx a bunch for that 😍
@bloodaxe@El_Draculo hey, that's cool to hear. the manual in the git repo is pretty helpful, and there are older boot camp videos that should still be pretty relevant. it's a big learning curve, but totally worth it
I've tried to switch from GNOME to KDE on #Nobara39. But when I switched from GDM to SDDM, SDDM won't detect my Nordic keyboard layout. In other words, I can't log in to my PC whilst using SDDM 😑
The solutions I've found online have not helped me... Does anyone here have any idea what might be going on, and what the solution might be?
@bloodaxe I have used Fedora which is nobara is based on so few questions:
Did you just installed the kde desktop packages from dnf and nothing else.
Is it possible for you to login through virtual keyboard in sddm.
I haven't used any other keyboard layout other than the default so I am not sure how those works. A possible solution is to switch back to gdm and just use that to login to KDE though I am not sure if KDE supports it. Use tty and then disable sddm and enable gdm through systemd
@bloodaxe wow you listen to the audio version of the wan show? I think it would be on the top for me too if it wasn't because I only watch it on youtube
#Framasoft is doing some amazing work to better the internet, by creating alternative free/Libre #Software for everybody to use 😎 For instance, they've made #PeerTube. PeerTube is a YouTube-alternative using P2P tech combined with #ActivityPub!
As a non-profit they are dependent on donations to keep going. Please consider checking out their awesome work in the following link, and evaluate if this is something you're willing to support 😃 Go #FOSS 🟢👌🏻
I got the #StarCitizen craze again after watching #CitizenCon 🙃 I'm really looking forward to the improvements they showed making their way into the actual game. Hauling my cargo has been a lot of fun though, didn't take me too long to make 600.000 aUEC 😃
@bloodaxe If you work up to either 30k or 50k Salvage missions, the cargo along is worth millions. The same goes for ERT missions. Even in a Corsair I can usually pull in 1-2 million in a single ERT run. With my org and a C2 we can pull in about 10-30 million per hour
Amazing stuff here folks, Re-Logic (creators of Terraria) just donated $100.000 each to both #Godot and #FNA, and they will donate $1.000 every month to each project from now on.
@bloodaxe It truly is gigachad move. Those funds definitely will help those #foss#opensource projects and helping people getting out of their Unity dependency.
In my country there's a proverb "getting hit by a durian", this is exactly what happened to #FNA unexpected fortune 🤣 Don't ask me why getting hit by such fruit means windfall gain.
@bloodaxe automated image-based font analysis often proves difficult with small text sample sizes like this, so I used Identifont's "20 questions" style Fonts By Appearance tool, which lets you narrow it down by specific glyph details.
Avenir itself has a lot of derivatives, so I'm unsure of the exact font name that would be present on Linux distros. But it looks like Avenir itself has been available on macOS by default for quite a while.
Hello good folks of the Fediverse! Anyone know if it's possible to remove the idiotic "black bars" that some modern Blu-ray discs ships with? Hopefully via media-player settings?
I've got a wide-screen PC-screen that makes this a particular issue. Example-image attached; The red line is the edges of my screen, and you can obviously see that the movie doesn't fit properly, even though the aspect ratio of the movie SHOULD fit in theory. 🙃
@bloodaxe I could only find the --panscan flag. According to the docs, that's for converting 16:9 to 4:3 without letterboxing, but it might do what you want too.
@bloodaxe@wizzwizz4 FYI, based on the name, --panscan probably uses a technique called "pan & scan". Historically, this was used to adjust a movie's aspect ratio to fullscreen by actually oversizing it, then moving it as needed to try to keep the action centered.
That is, it will chop some off some of the image to achieve the aspect ratio.
@bloodaxe oops, my bad about the cw :blobpats:. I did grow up playing the games and I also have been playing as a grown up (maybe even more than I did when I was a kid :blobshrug:)
@bloodaxe I guess I don't really have a favorite game. I played a lot of Fire/Red and Crystal because I love the first two generations, but I'm really inclined to try all the sequels in the near future. I've finished Heartgold last year, played a little Scarlet on the first semester and now I went back to Yellow fatpikachu but Zelda BOTW won't let me comeback to the pokeverse
@bloodaxe it has kind of a "dark" taste, and it's kind of hit and miss whether people like it. I grew up with it, so the darker and coarser the better 😛
