"I'm so angry at Biden over Isreal/Gaza that I'm going to help Trump destroy democracy, weaponize the Justice system, send millions to deportation camps, lower the taxes on the wealthy and shift the burden to the middle class, cut Social Security, track and prosecute women having abortions, pardon the people who violently attacked Capitol police, dismantle NATO, help Russia, AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT do even more harm to Palestinians" is a take--it's just a really awful take, IMO.
I rather disagree with the idea that Biden "CLEARLY is doing his best to limit the violence"; he is doing a little, but he could do a lot more.
It's likely that the reason he isn't doing a lot more is that he's afraid of losing votes on the pro-Likud side if he does.
He might therefore do more to limit the violence if he had evidence that he should be afraid of losing votes on the anti-genocide side if he doesn't.
It's not like the choice is between two fixed and static positions, Biden-as-given and Trump-as-given. If Biden believes that genocide opponents will stay home if he keeps fully funding the genocide, there's a greater chance he'll stop doing that. His need for votes can change his behavior.
There's a whole issue about whether the anti-genocide people are actually bluffing of course, and whether they'd actually risk a Trump presidency by staying home if he doesn't do more for Palestine. And I think it's frankly best if he can't assume it's just a bluff.
Really fucking annoying that the far right explains what’s happening in Israel as Jews controlling Biden and the far left explains it as Biden being controlled by Jews. It’s all just antisemitism.
And neither side will acknowledge reality: Bibi is an insane war criminal. Israel is not an American colony, it’s a nation that Biden has no control of. It’s completely arrogant and wrong to think either man can control what the other does, or that the Jewish people have any say over any of it.
I've had occasion to ask an AI about a thing twice lately (a recent online phenomenon, and a book recommendation). Both times I asked both Gemini and ChatGPT, and both times one gave a reasonable if bland answer, and the other (a different one each time) gave a plausible but completely fictional ("hallucinated") answer.
When do we acknowledge that LLMs, and "AI" in general, aren't quite ready to revolutionize the world?
I mostly really like Mastodon, especially as a tool for listening to and interacting with the developer community. But the federated bit still bites me, given that I joined at a time when there was a mass migration off of Tw*tter and some of the more popular instances were closed to new accounts. I’m finding that my instance does not support things like editing posts (a thing that other users seem to think is universal!), and I'll be darned if I can figure out how to follow a hashtag.
I can help a little maybe! There's a "Preferences" section called "Followed Hashtags", which is what you want. "Preferences" always seems to open to the "Appearance" section, so it looks like that's all there is, but if you find the right hot-dog-menu thing to click, you can get the menu with all the sections.
@lorihc
Darn wait that's wrong, lol. It's under "Following and Followers" or something like that, which is a peer of Preferences, but the only way I know of to get to it is via the Preferences menu. Then under that there's a "Following Hashtags".
Under "Preferences" there's a "Favorite Hashtags" which seems to be... something else.
New York AG rejects Trump $175M bond, setting the stage for a Monday hearing which may result in determination that the bond is without effect and lead to asset seizure.
"The New York attorney general’s office has asked a judge to void the $175 million bond former President Trump secured to put off paying the larger monetary damage award in his civil fraud case."
