In case of interest, I’ve recently passed 1000 followers on:

This is from posting pretty much solely on #MECFS , #LongCovid and related conditions and to a lesser extent chronic illness in general, which shows it is possible to build up followings on them, in case people either gave up on them or never tried.

@tomkindlon @longcovid @mecfs As someone with #fibromyalgia I find that we're mostly forgotten in the chronic illness community. While I would love to connect more, I have stopped talking about it because it's considered the "hysteria" of the modern era. I have some unique theories on what caused mine. But there is a much larger community around some illnesses than others.

The Joy of Writing When A Story Builds Upon Itself
One of the things I love about writing in my fantasy world is that the story ideas just seem to flow. I can be working on a story--for example the new serial I'm starting--and all of a sudden pieces begin falling into place. The short story that I've released for free (pick it up multiple places here), A Pony In Time,

I am doing a survey about yoga and neurodivergent folk and your boosts would be appreciated.

If you are neurodivergent (self-realized or Dx'd, it's all good here), and fall under the vast ND umbrella, I'd love to hear from you. Quick 6-7 question survey and you can remain anon if you want.

Thank you!

I’ve been reading about “stimming in autism”, which up until now was very confusing to me mostly because that’s the one point kept being repeated in the community being a must for an autistic individual. And I can’t relate to that at all.

Then I came across something that describes the purpose of ‘stimming’ is to deal with extra energy. Then it kinda hit me, I’ve never had the need to stim because I’m a low energy person in general.

I get overwhelmed with activities when they involve raising heart rates (yes, THAT too). I like quiet things, dead of night etc. Once at a time in my life, I was pretty sure I could hear flow of electricity.

So my question to the community: do you think stimming is a must for autistic people? Do you relate to it? Anyone know of any low energy stimming that gets overlooked?

Thanks! Much love!! 💕 @actuallyautistic

KitMuse,
@KitMuse@eponaauthor.social avatar

@pathfinder @farah @actuallyautistic For people assigned female at birth stims include eating and chewing fingernails. Biting the inside of your cheek can be a stim as well. It can also progress from there. But once I realized I was autistic, my "emotional eating" made sense because it was a stim to calm myself down and assure myself that I was cared for. (Food/stuff = love in our family)

Why does want to implement ? It's not about images. It's about modelling what workers do on Windows, and then replacing them.

The most expensive part of a computer is the fallible feelings-filled unpredictable meat sack that operates it.

Google has YouTube, Google Photos, Maps, and a bucket load of search data, Google Analytics, advertising, as well as it's data (e.g. transcriptions). And a bunch of data from Android services. From this data they can model speech, model videos and model advertising systems, and how humans respond to them.

But they can't model what people do on computers.

Amazon has Prime data, and a bucket load of compute. But no operating system data. They can build models based around e-commerce and advertising systems.

But they can't model what people do on computers.

Meta has waves hands enough analytics to model human behaviour in the Metaverse.

But they can't model what people do on computers.

Microsoft has GitHub.
Microsoft has LinkedIn.
Microsoft has SharePoint.
Microsoft has Teams.
Microsoft has Dynamics.
Microsoft has O365.
Microsoft has Windows telemetry data.

Microsoft can model what people do on (Windows) computers. Like fill out spreadsheets.Write emails. Synthesize web pages of research. Interact with colleagues on Teams. Create and edit documents.

Microsoft wants data so they can model what people do with operating systems.

Then replace them.

Imagine a CoPilot that doesn't just write buggy code. Imagine one that also does spreadsheets. That creates documents on SharePoint. That communicates with colleages on Teams. That has a customer pipeline on Dynamics.

That's what Recall is about - 360 degree surveillance of the worker, to model their functions, make them fungible, replicable - and replaceable.

KitMuse,
@KitMuse@eponaauthor.social avatar

@lewiscowles1986 @KathyReid

That assumes they actually care, and I don't think they do. They know they have a locked in audience of people who won't leave because they don't know anything else. Windows 11 is "mac-ified" making it look more like a Mac OS than Windows.

Considering all the $$ they'd raise selling that data to the highest bidder they can afford the small number of their users who will migrate.

KitMuse,
@KitMuse@eponaauthor.social avatar

@lewiscowles1986 @KathyReid

So to me, Windows 11 by centering everything at the bottom on the task bar, changing common right click commands to either be icons or hidden under a "show more" (I use rename, etc. a lot in my day job), as well as trying to direct everyone through the microsoft store is taking on some of the look and feel and ethos of a mac. Just my opinion, but I see both companies going toward a closed ecosystem which they control (see win11's "recall" and copilot)

I know people with estrogen have said their ADHD gets worse during perimenopause/menopause, but I'm wondering if people with testosterone 50+ also notice their Autism/ADHD symptoms getting worse. Especially more "inattentive"/stuck in their thoughts.

I feel like we really need more research on all of this.

10: Do you know any good sources for publishing information?

Absolute Write has been mentioned, as I'm sure has Writer Beware.

I'd also note to do a web search on "publisher name + problems" and if you see something LISTEN! Don't just pay attention to the people who say they have good experiences. Do your own research. The publishing industry is really good at blaming the people who are having issues w/ publishers rather than believing pubs behave badly.

4/30 Are you writing to prove a point to anyone?

Not anymore. Not for a very long time. Now, I write for me, for my mental health, for my enjoyment, to make my heart sing. If it doesn't do those things, then why do it?

Maybe at this point I'm writing to prove a point to myself that it is safe to focus on things that bring me joy.

Thoughts about writing action scenes. I feel like I don't have the brain power to wrap my mind around all the action, who goes where, who does what?

I'm wondering if this is related to my extra spicy neurodivergence.

Does anyone have any tips or tools they use? Wonder if I need to dig out my D&D miniatures?

Thoughts my fellow neurodivergent authors?

KitMuse,
@KitMuse@eponaauthor.social avatar

@angiebaby @bookstodon @actuallyautistic @neurodiversity I have a lot of introspection in mine, and I realized today that where my brain is right now I'm doing much better with cozy, magic action vs. bad guys action. Makes me wonder if I were in a place where my mental health were better and I had more mental bandwidth if I couldn't do those stories more justice.

A question I feel like we all must ask those who are wanting to "coach" neurodiverse people?

If you are not ready to deconstruct modern paradigms, including modern coaching training programs, then can you really say you're for full liberation?

Or are you still wanting liberation within the guise of cultural and societal norms which are harming people?

@neurodiversity @actuallyautistic

KitMuse,
@KitMuse@eponaauthor.social avatar

@haui @neurodiversity @actuallyautistic I've been around the coaching world since the mid 00's, and I've watched as the business marketers/coaches then shifted to authors and now I see it in neurodivergent spaces.

I understand neurodivergence is a spectrum, but I also feel there's a real lack of self-awareness because if you aren't aware of the history of coaching and a lot of the classism and ableism that's behind it, well let's just say a lot of it comes across as predatory.

I'm trying to decide if Medium is still a viable place to grow my audience. Lately when I click on people's links I'm being taken to paywall pages (must be a member to read, not just logged in with my account), and I want to be sure I can set my material to be as widely read as possible.

But I know personally I'm starting to hesitate because it feels very pay walled.

I have two existing blogs there that have been dormant for a while.

Thoughts ?

21. Do you agree with Rose Tremain, who says you shouldn't plan a book's ending; it must be earned?

The quote sounds strange and I'm not familiar with it, so I'm going to go with other people's interpretations and say that if you have a planned ending and the story needs you to adjust it -- do so. Clinging needlessly to an outline will only lead to frustration and stress.

I don't like the "earned" language here.

One of the reasons why it's vital I remain being able to work from home and at my own pace is because today, I was starting to have anxiety/panic attacks over a few different things, and I knew I needed to get outside.

I went outside, used the shedding blade on my heart mare, drilled holes in the bottom of a new salt block holder so it drains. Maybe half an hour outside, but all better when I came back in.

11: How effective are your newsletters in creating sales?

Prior to "the major burnout"(TM) I had roughly 3000 people on my newsletter and definitely saw a bump in sales when I sent one out.

Now that I've been rebranding and have taken a couple of years away from sending newsletters I'm rebuilding, but with the state of corporate social media, a newsletter is VITAL to have control over your customers. I love to talk them so reach out or check out https://eponamail.com

A Herd-Sized Join Up
Last week I suggested to spouse that we walk down to get the mail. For context, our driveway is a tenth of a mile, and it was about six in the evening. I'd already fed the horses and they'd gone down to the front of the pasture to graze for the night. But as we walked down the driveway heads lifted and horses nickered. It felt good. T
