I was a massive fan of Dilbert: I still have some of the old strips as references from older presentations. Same for Chapelle: my friend group used to copy him and his jokes about racism and government.
Scott Adams and Dave Chapelle's bigoted tirades shattered me. I didn't "get over" anything, but the authors ruined their own work for me, and I find it a bit telling about a person who can just "get over" the author suddenly turning on what you thought they stood for.

(edit: per the replies below, Okorafor doesn't like having this series compared with Harry Potter but it is still a example one of the many better choices of novel)
