#Trump pledges to 'roll back' Democratic President Joe #Biden’s #gun#regulations put in place by Democratic President Joe #Biden & to fire the #ATF chief during a lengthy rally speech to the #NRA on Sat, during which he accepted the influential group's #endorsement.
During the speech, #Trump repeated a pledge to fire the director of the Bureau of #Alcohol, #Tobacco, #Firearms & #Explosives, known as the #ATF, on Day One of a potential administration. He accused that agency, which enforces #UnitedStates#GunLaws, of being heavy-handed w/ #FirearmOwners & revoking licenses on frivolous grounds.
Thurs, the #Biden admin announced they are closing what is known as the #"GunShowLoophole," by tightening up the definition of what it means to be "engaged in the business" of selling #firearms.
The #ATF has just implemented a change in the federal register language, which was previously more specific to who was selling guns, & the agency did it in accordance w/the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, passed in 2022.
The admin rolled out the proposed rule in Sept 2023, taking in over 300k comments from the public.
Prior to the passage of the Bipartisan #SaferCommunities Act, those "engaged in the business" of #firearms dealer were required to #register to become a federally #licensed firearm dealer, acc/to the language previously used. The definition that #ATF is implementing on Thurs is more specific to better #regulate the market in accordance w/the new federal #law, acc/to the WH.

I'm specifically looking for Morris Fuller Benton's first cut of Broadway, to see if it has the letter S form which can only be truthfully described as "weird-ass". Internet Archive has catalogues from the early 1930s, by which time Broadway had grown lowercase, plus a more sinuous S form.
@GottaLaff while the #ATF isn't allowed, by specific congressional order, to maintain electronically searchable records involving serial numbers. They have to negotiate with Adobe for a contract that lets them scan forms electronically but NOT run OCR to make them searchable
All searches have to be done by hand because of our gun worship and faux- oppression involving 2A.
It's vastly stupid and vastly designed.
