Finished Batman: Arkham Asylum last night. Just shy of 15 years after launch, the game holds up pretty great, with satisfying combat and gameplay, a fantastic voice cast, and a cool island. There's a bit of a blend of Metroidvania and Legend of Zelda-style level design, with the locations acting as different dungeons, but with extra paths and secrets that require return trips with future upgrades to access.
Started playing Batman: Arkham Asylum recently. I last played the game in 2015, and I've never played any of the sequels, so I figured I'd go back and give the original a go before continuing the series.
So far, it's held up pretty well! I'm not too great at the combat, but it's fun enough. Love the sort of Metroidvania style of the game—although maybe it's closer to The Legend of Zelda, with the different buildings acting as dungeons.
Joker jako niańka i to w dodatku samego Batmana? Taka iście zakręcona sytuacja stanowi motyw przewodni mangi „Joker. Operacja specjalna”. Co więcej, ten szalony pomysł bardzo dobrze zdał tu egzamin. A przynajmniej tak jest w pierwszym tomie, który miałam już okazję przeczytać.
Bought this in Books on iPad because I absolutely loved Prince of Persia on my old 20 MHz 386, and only 1/5 or so in to it, it’s clear that for me that this is the most impactful comic I’ve read since the 1986 The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller which at the time completely changed how I looked at comics. Absolutely love this format of storytelling. ❤️
Holy Trolls & Goblins, here's reason number 36,471 I love the internet:
someone over on Substack collected all 368 of Robin's exclamations from the old Batman TV series into a single post.
BATMAN: Yes, I do donate plenty to charity to help Gotham. But contrary to the Fox News crowd, you need strong government programs to help, too! Speaking of which, the previous president belonged in Arkham, not the White House! What kind of person views Clark Kent as an "enemy of the people" for doing his reporting job?! (Sees camera start to pan away) Wait, don't cut me off--- (cuts to a DC Comics "technical difficulties" test pattern)
So last year I watched Batman: The Animated Series, Batman '89 and Batman Returns. A friend lent me a copy of Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. I thought all of those were great.
I recently watched the Harley Quinn animated series. The same friend lent me a copy of Superman For All Seasons, Dark Night: A True Batman Story, and Batman: Hush. Then I bought these through a combo of my local hobby shop and Target's buy 2 get 1 free sale.
I just finished reading Batman - The Long Halloween. It is without a doubt a masterpiece. I’ve said it here before, but the duo Jeoh Loeb and Tim Sale is very very good. Sale’s drawings are very expressive and authorial. I was quite shocked by the plot twist on the last page, it was impressive. I recommend reading.
