Kennt und nutzt dies wer von euch? Für mich ist es anscheinend was Neues von der @linuxfoundation (alles kann ich nicht wissen).

Thoughts on Proxmox and Home Lab Use

This post is really a small collection of thoughts about Proxmox when used in a home lab situation and home labs in general. I was originally going to post this to Mastodon only but it didn't fit in a single post.

A lot of people (at least what I see on reddit) build Proxmox systems with shared file systems like ceph, even for home lab use.

Got incus-deploy to a state where it can now reliably deploy , and in just a few minutes, taking care of all the clustering bits and resulting in a fully functional environment!

Codeberg's performance is currently degraded. We are working on a fix.

We performed an experiment with our storage settings (testing Ceph's resiliency) and did not expect that undoing the action takes x100 the time to do the change.

touchy subject! but does anyone have any examples of telemetry in open source projects that has been done well?

success criteria:

  1. allow the project to allocate time to things people actually use
  2. identify issues people may have, as not everyone files issues or can effectively report a bug
  3. preserves privacy + anonymity, and isn't creepy

eg right now I'd love to know what config/features people actually use, so I can stop maintaining what isn't necessary

@ellie I believe does it well, as does

Finally got #Ceph RBD reliably working in #Rancher #Harvester VMs. Volumes, snapshots, backups, migrations, etc. are all working now against an external Ceph cluster alongside the native Longhorn.

Just migrated the LFS backend from block storage to RGW/S3. The migrate-storage command worked perfectly! 💪

One of my control plane/storage nodes kept freezing at approx 00:10 every day. Just removed it from the cluster, moved the 2 OSDs it was hosting to a former worker, and reprovisioned the worker as a control plane/storage node. All with no downtime 😅

#Canonical intros #Microcloud: Simple, free, #onpremises #Linux clustering
As #Ubuntu approaches its 20th anniversary, some more of its pieces may be Snapping together It uses its own #LXD containervisor to manage nodes and workloads, #Ceph for distributed storage, #OpenZFS for local storage, and #OVN to virtualize the cluster interconnect. All the tools are packaged as snaps. It supports both x86-64 and Arm64 nodes, including #RaspberryPi, and you can mix architectures! https://www.theregister.com/2023/11/16/canonical_microcloud/

@Natanox @rodirik I do prefer solely because I had to do and thus there was 0 acceptance for any to the point that , and were dedicaded, horizontally and vertially scalable layers...

But then again that's like 8 digits [€] project volume and not something most users should have to worry about...
