I make a lot of pottery with elephants, and my best selling item of the last 25 years is an elephant mug, trunk down as the handle. Well, sure, yes, from time to time I make that trunk UP in a lucky curve :) #art#mastoart#clay#ceramics#pottery
Like I was saying yesterday, there is cute, then make it smaller, and it is cutter! Small dogs on new mugs that I made :) #art#mastoart#clay#pottery#ceramics
It's Thursday so here's a throwback to a really old poster for Utopia. It's always interesting to look back at old work to see how far you've progressed as an artist.
Absolutely loved this series (the original British version ofc) and talk about life imitating art! I reckon it's due a rewatch soon to remind myself of its parallels with the pandemic and all the mad conspiracy theories that inevitably followed 💛
Was fiddling around with a new pair of glaze schemes and also thinking that pear shaped makes a good mug style...just out of my kiln :) #art#mastoart#pottery#ceramics#clay
A raw, unfired teapot I just finished: the thing that is on my mind is how can you take a fully functional item and add some fun to it, which doesn't reduce the practical and utilitarian function of it? So, a teapot with some dogs formed on the sides, just a globe, handle, spout and lid :) #art#mastoart#ceramics#pottery#clay
A new mug that I made, dinosaur or dragon. When I talk to my friends, we all agree that the best thing about making a dragon is that there are no rules! Plus you can call some a dinosaur or simply a monster--you can please anybody :) #art#mastoart#clay#ceramics#pottery
Not really the original plan, but pretty proud of that one 😸🧙 Just a couple of final tidy-ups left for next week... For the cat that is, the others will need some extra sculpting ☺️
All painted with underglaze, alongside the panda which was long overdue its coating as well. 🎨 Fingers crossed for the colours firing nicer than my first try 🤞
