Work. Distorting Science to Dispute the Evidence Doesn’t

Gloves don’t work, explains Intensive Care Society on Hand Hygiene Day. Not satire!

At least now we know what all the talk about hand washing against airborne disease has been for: if we can’t have doctors wear masks, at least perhaps we can persuade them to wash their hands occasionally?

There is now a preponderance of evidence that causes cardiovascular damage, even in some patients with mild infections, even in kids. The risk is much higher with repeated infections and if you are unvaccinated.

Hey.. Covid isn't over.
It's actually worse than the first few waves. That's our baseline now.
You have a 1 in 10 chance of becoming disabled after infection.
You can get sick up to 5 times a year.
You will never have immunity.
You are typically infectious for 12 days.
Deaths are being under reported by up to %60.
Why aren't you wearing a mask?

Don't let corrupt politicians steal your health away.

the thing is… we have data. Like I said, this is the most studied disease in history.

Those studies show, without a shadow of a doubt, that covid is a dire threat to everyone. Everyone. Even you.

The data is extremely clear on this too: the pandemic is not over. And, as I will argue in this article, in many ways we are worse off than ever.

The data also totally and irrefutably destroys this ridiculous, un-scientific notion that you can just “live your life” with no regards to your safety or the safety of others. It bears repeating. I promise you this: covid is a dire threat to your health and safety. Now. In 2023.

Ignore these at your own risk.

Covid isn’t gone—only the data is.

Getting rid of data deprives populations of the capacity for situational awareness, and the ability to criticize policy. It’s why governments are doing it.

It will enable employers, workplaces and insurance companies to deny liability claims and LTD claims due to Long . Also a reason why no more contact tracing.

Went to a donut shop in Japan today.

They had a CO2 monitor on the counter and a UV light on, plus circulating air through the ventilation system.

Also all the staff and most of the customers were masked. 😷

It's really not that hard and if a donut shop can do it we can certainly do it at least in schools and hospitals.

This is more what I'd think "Live with the virus" looks like. What we're doing feels more like "Pretend there is no virus".

Standing shielded UV light plugged to the wall in the donut shop.

A good chat I just had in my private COVID cautious group. I censored my friend only because I have a right to share my own words wherever I want, but they deserve privacy. 👇

I'm in Toronto, Canada. Because gun ownership is very low here, I'm thankful that my pepper spray and knife are sufficient self defense in case I run into a crazy antimasker in public who wants to rip my elastomeric off. We. Are. Living. In. Dark. Times. World War II was absolutely horrendous for the Holocaust and the mass bombings of civilian areas. But there were some people living during WWII who had easier lives than we have now. For example, my father. WW II took place during my father's childhood. Because he was in London, although London had frequent air raids... 10m
There was a strong sense of community in WW II London. People did pretend things were "normal" en masse. But... There was a sense of "we're all in this together." 9m In the air raids my dad went through, absolutely no one would object to getting to a bomb shelter ASAP. And gas masks were provided to everyone and they were ENCOURAGED to wear them in certain situations. 8m People "kept calm and carried on." But wearing a gas mask and going to a bomb shelter in an emergency was sensible, not "living in fear."
My dad told me all about his childhood. Constantly. I used to feel sorry that his childhood was like that. But now I actually think being a working class family in WW II London is a lot less traumatizing than being us now. Because in WWII London, there was a feeling you could

If the attendees of the CDC's conference can eff up health protocols to the degree that it becomes a superspreader event worthy of an official probe,

you really might want to reconsider whether your (academic / organizing / etc) conference should meet exclusively in person.

controlfreak, to random

Oh Joy. My GP is starting to subscribe to the "the latest mutations appear to be less deadly so get out there and super spread yo"

me: I'm not afraid of acute death, I fear more disability load on top of my non covid chronic disabling buffet

GP: I got it for the first time recenlty and it passed pretty quick

me: Yeah and you are an affluent individual in good health operating with some precautionary principle albeit at a clinic with no filtering or ventilation. That you got it for the first time now should raise both further caution and fear that lettin er rip aint the way to go?

GP: but it only hit me for about 3 weeks and I bounced back and the numbers are trending toward new variants causing less long covid

me: again you are an affluant relatively healthy inividiual, I have neither the same options nor baseline health to roll the dice. and again, if I were to add any completely avoidable MORE conditions to my day to day buffet I simply cannot fathom how or if I would operate. I'm not so sure about less long term cases numbers but you dont even need the back of an envelope to determine that your attitude will lead to more infections which will eventually lead to more long term cases right....right?....ugh

seriously, wtf is wrong with people. It's fucking psycopathy to not do anything about air quality, pretend severity is minimised, push people to literally get sick unnecessarily, and just pretend that 2/5/10 years down the road there will be anyone left to care for all of the newly disabled when we currently can barely get appointments due to either fear of poor conditions and staff attitudes or you know hospital staff shortages do to....COVID
