#Dropbox on #macOS really needs to stop showing persistant notifications. Every time my upDraftPlus backups run I get a perisstant notification that files were changed.
NO dropbox! I do not want to back up every! dsingle! stupid! removable! device, that I stick in my computer, no matter how many friggin times you ask me! no! I do not want to back up every single word excel or other Office document! I really, do not! and yes, I have turned off the stupid settings that ask these questions again, and again and again! oh and by the way dropbox, if you must keep asking me these questions, please, for the love of god, make the windows focused and not inaccessible.
Why are you using Dropbox? There's plenty of free #NextCloud services out there instead, or if you are paying for #Dropbox you can self-host or pay a hosting company to host NextCloud for less than your'e already paying.
Sounds like you've got an opportunity for a solution there - a golden opportunity (NextCloud also has all the document support that Dropbox does too) - for free.

Backblaze is making their B2 egress fees go away on Oct 3rd. I should really dig up a Dropbox-but-using-B2 type thing for Linux/macOS/iOS... especially if that software ends up being more reliable that pCloud's client. I'm not sure such a thing exists though.
@jsnell@imyke The times when #iCloud files doesn't sync up or down is when I'm doing something with the sending mac or the receiving mac that is CPU-heavy. #FFMPEG for example.
But yes, it drives me nuts! I killed #Dropbox from my work path when they wouldn't go Apple Silicon - and just didn't like the overhead Dropbox incurred.I don't know that I wanna go back... 😳
Dear Dropbox, no, for the 10,000th time, I really really really don't want to try the new beta on my Mac. Is there really no way to completely stop these popups every few days?
Though I have stopped using Dropbox and deleted the account years ago, I should have never uploaded unencrypted files at all, which should have been used for model training and I will be compensated by nothing.
I am a happy user of #syncthing for my own data and #cryptpad for team collaboration 😁
This week I discovered Google docs has a pageless mode and 🤯 because of course if you're using it just to collaborate with others online only and are never going to print it why would you constrain yourself to A4 🤣
Wonder if this will be a generational thing that will go away with printing documents...
@bookwar@fossrob You can modify the width of the page (it's a bit basic), but in terms of collaborative pageless services I think Dropbox Paper handles this use case a bit better. However, it's not a word processor like Google Docs is, so it's a more focused environment and doesn't have the same feature set.
My #Email#security is finally configured for detection and is in learning mode now. I will be setting remediation up in the coming weeks after some education on my #Avanan platform. It's covering my Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook email with the idea I can even make sure the meetings I have with vendors and such are secured more. This also works for #Google#Slack, #Dropbox#Box and #Citrix link
I'll have more to cover in the review in the coming weeks #Cybersecurity#InfoSec#IT#Emailsecurity
Updated the #Dropbox app on my Mac and all my files now have clouds next to them. I did not know what this meant, so I asked Dropbox Support. The CS guy told me it means the file is only in the cloud, which made me panicked, because I have 650GB of files in that folder--all of them in cloud would 650GB deleted from my machine!
Turns out he's clueless and it's part of the indexing process. Dropbox needs to train their support people better.
Oh #dropbox - why do you consistently and regularly continue to fail?
My new #ios phone has Dropbox and I have Camera Uploads turned on. Even though I explictely have the 'okay to run in background' switch on the app, and I've rebooted, restarted the app, etc - It still won't upload in the background.
Only when I have the app open will it upload.
Dropbox on #android did not do this. I'm expecting somethink screwy in the IOS app by Dropbox that's refusing to let this happen.
