🇬🇧 I just remembered that over the weekend I watched #PoorThings, for which #EmmaStone won an #Oscar. I have to admit that I don't know if I've seen a weirder movie... The screenwriters must have been after quite a mushroom to come up with such a story.
Last night's Oscars saw a sweep by "Oppenheimer," a surprise win for Emma Stone, a new record for Billie Eilish, and a near-naked John Cena. Here's our @Flipboard Storyboard to wrap things up.
Emma Stone has won the best actress Oscar for her performance in "Poor Things." This is her second win after she won in 2017 for "La La Land." The AP has more details.
What an strange, delightful, horrifying and extremely sexual movie! Loved it! A must watch! A crazy fantasy world full of even crazier happenings! #poorthings#willemdafoe#emmastone#horror
I finally saw #PoorThings last night. I'd not been interested at all, but the plethora of Oscar nominations and encouragement from two friends finally convinced me to go. And I'm really glad I did.
Quirky as a description of the film is a serious understatement. But there's so much to like about it, if you can get past certain things. There is a lot of blood and body parts and nudity and graphic sexual situations as well as graphic language, and I don't just mean swear words. 1/4
I know some can find those off-putting. You can for the most part avoid visuals but not so much the aural.
I understand now why #EmmaStone has gotten such accolades for her performance. She gives an incredibly amazing performance, not the least of which is in the physicality of Bella's movements in different phases of her life.
I'm disappointed that they weren't nominated in the ensemble category for the #SAGAwards because everyone is so good. #PoorThings 2/4
