Last night's Oscars saw a sweep by "Oppenheimer," a surprise win for Emma Stone, a new record for Billie Eilish, and a near-naked John Cena. Here's our @Flipboard Storyboard to wrap things up.
22-year-old Billie Eilish is now the youngest person to win two Oscars (her brother Finneas O’Connell is the second youngest at 26). "What Was I Made For?" from "Barbie" was tonight's win; two years ago she also won for the James Bond theme song, "No Time to Die."
Ramy Youssef wore an Artists for Ceasefire pin on the Oscars red carpet, telling Deadline: "We have a growing list of so many artists who want a permanent immediate ceasefire in Gaza. To get really universal about it, it’s about stop killing kids." Other artists who the magazine spotted wearing the red pins include Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, "Nimona" actor Eugene Lee Yang, director Misan Harriman, who was behind the best live action short nominee "The After," and filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, of best documentary feature nominee "Four Daughters." Here's more.
The #Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and here are my thoughts.
So happy that #JeffreyWright was nominated for Best Actor and #SterlingKBrown was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, both for #AmericanFiction . They were both terrific, and the scenes between the two of them were on fire.
Billie Eilish findet Coming-out überflüssig, Queerness sei doch selbstverständlich. Doch das stimmt nicht. Warum wir weiter queere Kämpfe brauchen.
@flexghost Here is folk/Americana singer #SarahJarosz doing a cover of #BillieEilish 's "bad guy" on #ChrisThile 's "Live From Here" show (which unfortunately went away during Covid and never came back). Not her usual thing but she's very versatile and had fun with it.
"I feel like dying, but I'm still going to play!" 🤡
This is absolutely horrifying. #BillieEilish has long COVID and now she's gonna push through her current infection to play in an arena full of tens of thousands of people and air full of COVID.
Sziget Festival kicks off tomorrow and takes place on Budapest’s Óbuda Island, also known as the Island of Freedom, which becomes the site of the six-day-long festivities.
It’s one of Hungary’s biggest cultural events, and this year's line-up is looking mighty impressive.
