"Understanding the Cyber Resilience Act: What Everyone involved in Open Source Development Should Know"

I certainly do not AT ALL grasp what is expected of me in the future even after having read this.

@bagder I heard at that the obligations only apply to consumers with whom you have a business relationship with. People who use your software for free either have to do the risk assessment and co themselves or have a contract with you. Which would make sense, but I'm not a lawyer so take my words with a grain of salt 😜

In my train back from . This was a great event and I found it very refreshing to got to a conference to discuss more about the political aspects than technical access of our digital rights. Definitively will try to go again next year and many thanks to @digitalcourage and the rest of the orga team for organizing it!

I love encryption and this is why we should fight as much as possible the new legislation proposed by the EU Commission.

I just attended a very inspiring #FnF23 session convened by @erikkemp on the topic of Fediverse governance. People from many countries, backgrounds and groups were present.

In my opinion, it's too early for creating governing bodies, and I'm not sure we will ever need them. What I find useful is covenants that instances can sign. E.g. digitalcourage.social signed the well-known Mastodon covenant <https://joinmastodon.org/covenant> as well as the #fedimins covenant <https://fedimins.net/en/covenant/> which is still a work in progress.

The European Data Protection Supervisor (@EDPS) Wojciech Wiewiórowski (@EDPS_supervisor) right now giving a brief input on “Fediverse for Public Administration. Why we try and why we fail”.

Responding to a (too) short definition of the Fediverse as an antidote to big-tech social media platforms, he stated:

“I have nothing against big. I have nothing against American. I have nothing against platforms. I have something against being dependent.”

A recording of the talk will be published on his office's PeerTube instance (@edps / @edps_tv).
