New video from prolific High Speed Rail Youtuber "Lucid Stew" about Cascadia High Speed rail, which sketches out the details of a new hypothetical route between Eugene and Vancouver, BC. What do you think of this route?

@CascadiaRail That video mentions some of the difficulty of the terrain around , suggesting that HSR trains will have to slow down to 60 mph passing through Bellingham. That may be true, but there are some other creative ways we could work with the I-5 right of way but still go a bit faster. I wrote up some thoughts in a blog post a few years ago: https://mappingmashups.medium.com/cascadia-high-speed-rail-in-bellingham-thoughts-on-station-locations-ea3f423d0035

Brightline West bekommt de facto einen ICE in die USA. Velaro-Plattform als AP220 (American Pioneer). Sieht so aus, als würde Brightline West die California High Speed Rail überholen (trotz der stark eingekürzten Strecke).

Ugh! I want Robin because she'll make PF easier... And Topaz might be a good Fire DPS... And I've wanted Fu Xuan as a mega-support for forever... And Boothill's character design looks hilariously hyper-American...

I cannot afford this next update.

On Monday, March 11, U.S. Representatives Seth Moulton (D-MA) and Suzan DelBene (D-WA) introduced the American High-Speed Rail Act of 2024. This bill would provide $205 billion over five years for the planning and construction of a national high-speed rail network.

Fill out this form (via the High Speed Rail Alliance) to send a message of support to Congress!

Just ran across your site, and was wondering if you were aware of the project? This multinational "high speed " has been being worked on by the governments of , , and for a line from to to , with a target transit time of ~1 hour for each half. That would be speeds in the 110-125 kph, not truly HSR, but an incremental improvement. Key feature: right-of-way already secured.

Interesting news-ish article about in the sponsored by Microsoft.

https://www.seattletimes.com/sponsored/a-look-at-high-speed-rail-convenience-jobs-housing-and-cleaner-air/

I can't quibble with the content (it all holds water) and it's a good promotional summary of the topic.

The whole sponsored thing is a bit "ick", but whatever, newspapers aren't what they once were! And it's a nice counter to the regressive, anti-HSR editorials recently published in the Seattle Times.

Phoenix is expanding light-rail rather quickly. Check out this great video about the latest expansion.

The sunbelt is changing. Let's connect Phoenix (our 5th biggest city) with Los Angeles (our 2nd biggest city) by high-speed rail.

The most important rail project that no one seems to know about in Southern California is Link US, which will create run-through tracks, meaning Union Station will have run-through service rather than be a stub.

This service is as important to future #regionalrail #highspeedrail #intercityrail service in Southern California as the Regional Connector project was to Metro Los Angeles. #rail #hsr #California #LosAngeles

A route connecting #KualaLumpur and Bangkok will make it possible to link it to other regional #HSR lines to form larger networks that will reach Laos and China.

It would make sense if Thailand initiated the #feasibility study and #Malaysia could bring in China to provide the #funding, #construction, #operations and larger volume of #passengers from their region into #KL and Bangkok.

I love how the Trash Taste boys all got voice cameos in Star Rail, but as far as I can tell Connor's the only person who's character got to come back because he was leagues better than Joey and Garnt.

There's a new RMTransit (@RM_Transit) video up about high-speed rail from Melbourne to Sydney.

It's definitely worth checking out. Reece makes the case that more overnight sleeper services and electrification are an important first step: https://youtu.be/IMUcV_nxsWY?si=8reQjPjsrwVTcecx

My two cents on the topic is that HSR from Melbourne to Sydney should implemented as a series of incremental upgrades, rather than a single megaproject.

Between the 1970s and 2010s, the Hume Highway between Melbourne and Sydney was incrementally upgraded to a freeway-standard continuous dual carriageway road: https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/operations/roads-and-waterways/environment-and-heritage/heritage/hume-highway-duplication/history

It wasn't done as single megaproject. Instead, it was done in small segments. A bypass around a town. A section of road between two town upgraded to dual carriageway. Eventually, over 40 years, the whole road was upgraded.

We should be doing the same thing with the train line from Melbourne to Sydney.

Not as a multi-billion-dollar megaproject, but as a series of discrete projects to upgrade sections of track to electrified HSR standard: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/feb/24/start-building-now-to-fulfil-sydney-melbourne-high-speed-rail-ambition-labor-urged

That means faster train journeys from Melbourne to Sydney today, with full HSR rolled out incrementally over the longer term.

Mihoyo has purchased the right for a newly cultivated rose variety. It will be exhibited at several cities in China, in collaboration with the Beijing Academy of Forestry and Landscape Architecture.

The name of this new rose variety is Argenti. In floral language, it will mean "May the spirit of beauty always accompany you".
