People with a Nintendo Switch, what's your preference for docked vs handheld? Do you almost always do one or the other, does it depend on the game, does it depend on what you're doing while gaming? And if you also have a PS5 or Xbox X|S, what's your preference for games that are available on both that and the Switch?
Trying out GodoRogue tonight. It's great! You can use the keyboard commands or mouse directly to different locations, how you can see in the screenshot - the yellow line. And you can play this one in-browser. It was made in HTML5!
omg i didnt know i still had these. all through the 90’s, into the early 2000’s, i was an avid PC Gamer fan (big influence on me wanting to make games). they all had these demo CD’s with latest coolest games. turns out i kept most of them! like 51 CD’s worth of super old games 🤯

Cool to see writeup on a game that's already on my wishlist, Cobalt Core. It's on Switch, I may grab it there. I can't speak to if I like it yet, but I'm guessing I probably will. The genre is "sci-fi roguelike deckbuilder", which sounds odd but check the screenshots at these links- I kinda get it. I think it looks great - I dig weird strategy stuff like this sometimes. Now I'm even more psyched to play it.
We've been trying other games since the kid just got a PS5 and has PlayStation Plus, some free stuff in there. Dead Cells, kid is pretty good at it. He wasn't a fan of the permadeath, always going back to the start. It's brutal. We also tried Skul. Same deal. Like a mini Dead Cells, kinda. Now, he's playing Rain World. It's pretty rad. He's good at it, I knew he would be. Again, I couldn't handle the controls of it, etc, when I tried. But wow, Rain World is a beautiful game.
Every single time I check Steam I get depressed, but whenever I check Newgrounds it makes me so happy. There is more over there, but these are some of my favorite comments
The sad and broken dev in me is thankful right now ❤️
Surprised anyone still plays anything I ever did. Let alone that they would be so kind to leave comments like that 😊

In recent years, I've noticed a big rise in #CozyGames or #WholesomeGames, especially in the #indie scene. There are a lot of really good ones, and It's actually become one of my favorite genres of game. It seems like a pretty new thing, with games like Stardew Valley, A Short Hike, and Untitled Goose Game feeling really fresh and almost coming out of nowhere; but, I can't help but wonder--how new is the concept really?
Besides Harvest Moon (Stardew's inspo), are there any other #RetroGames that would fit into this genre today? 🤔
I realized today that when I lost Twitter, I also lost a lot of the cool indie game devs I was following there (and the updates on their games). And that totally sucks, because I really love to play indie games. Apparently Twitter was my main source for discovering them (sheesh).
Below is a pretty big list of games (with links to them!) that I'm looking forward to. There are SO MANY games on my Steam wishlist that are still being worked on and upcoming (some of these are on itch also, and some have alphas, betas, and demos, I've noted which).
Some of these games are definitely coming later this year, and fingers crossed for maybe full releases of the rest in 2024?
Think of the game as Vampire Survivors, but instead of you having to move and all the skills are passively activated, now you just stay in one place, but you must actively use the skills. That makes sense because the game has tower defense theme, as the name suggested. There is another difference though, it’s how players...
Several of you are fans of roguelikes and are game devs, and some may already be involved with the Roguelike Celebration that @roguelike_con does. I'm on the mailing list and I just wanted to share the attached images with the info for submitting your roguelike for the Steam event they're doing from October 19-26.
Wizard with a Gun is a great looking isometric shooter with crafting etc that just came out. It has a free demo on Xbox (and maybe other places - I gotta check the Switch).
Psyched to try this one out. Check out these screenshots! 😍
Holy hell, but Chained Echoes is a fuckin great JRPG
Best thing I've played in this genre since, uh, maybe literally Chrono Trigger / FF6 / etc. It's up there with the best of the best. Slightly stilted dialog in places, but the writing is great, just occasionally reads like English wasn't a first language is all. Which honestly just makes it feel more like FFT or FF6, heh.
And essentially one person (plus contract help I'd assume but still) made this? Hot DAMN #indiegames

Can anyone recommend accounts to follow that boost indie games and indie game devs? I've been having a tough time finding quality accounts since I joined the fediverse.
It's a beautiful game with amazing music and gameplay like 2D Zelda. I still think about it a lot.
New trailer for my personal project. I wish I could quit my job instead of spending nights and weekend days working on it. (www.youtube.com)
