@daniel 🙂 I don't want to brag, but I've been making voxel art since the mid-2000s, back when there were no voxel editors and no Minecraft. I wrote an article about it, if you'd like to know more:
@sjb3d yes, I managed to find a way to cull the trees (currently two-level). it’s still very limited though. Compound sdfs definitely have artifacts (especially the interior region). but users may still prefer at least having some ways to localize the boolean operations.
@ephtracy nice, even two-level sounds super useful. I had a vague plan in Dreams to support compound shapes made from only two built-in shapes, so at least users could make some custom shapes to sculpt/paint with, but this was probably too limited/hacky and still had massive workflow and UI impact!
@kbob I had the global shapes in mind: main part, propellers / fans at the sides, two "legs" / "arms" with guns, and the lens. The rest of the shapes and details were conceived as I went along.
