Oh ffs, the #F1 TV app has some new region blocking where it‘s now smart enough to block VPNs apparently.
Don‘t take my money then, I guess.
Seems to be the day of big ol businesses not wanting my money anymore eh. Heck.
Lest bitte.
the privilege, as an admin, of blocking an entire fediverse instance, censoring all past, current, and future content from said instance, is not trivial
the simple fact is that the "non-stakeholders" have no idea what the technical implementation will be of Facebook's platform, nor how Mastodon et al will change before or after FB's deployment
i completely agree FB is not to be trusted. but until there are actual facts and an actual threat model based on said facts, i'm doing nothing
Reddit’s CEO, who claimed to want to emulate Musk, is doing an absolutely smashing job.
He forced some subreddits to open again, but of course he can’t force people to post what he wants.
r/steam users are now only posting articles about hot water vapor.
r/pics users are only posting sexy photos of John Oliver
r/gifs and r/Art are also limiting content to John Oliver.
Holy shit. It's not just that the #Lemmy dev is a tankie, he's a LaRouche conspiracy-brain NazBol. Okay #fediverse tell me how this isn't as bad as Gleason's Soapbox and how you are separating art & artist because making them a Eugen-level BDFL just has to happen because of the #Reddit exodus.
@jo@rbos it's literally a felony in Germany based off #BDSG as the only reasons one is allowed to retain data against someones declined consent are solely tax and bookkeeping reasons and even those records have to be destroyed 10 years later...
#NotLegalAdvice but I'm shure lawyers like https://wbs.legal will agree that forums and sites must comply with a users demand to have their accounts and posts/comments deleted without delay and must do so in a timely manner...
@denki@carnage4life "comment section" does not replace professional legal advie.
#NotLegalAdvice but you better understand the legal ramifications that claiming AI can do "copyrightable works" becuase that would be the necesity for any copyright violation being possible.
Because that shit will more likely be used to rent-seek on law-abiding people and make everyone who learned from books a perpetual debt peon rather that restricting #TechBros at rentseeking.
At this point I am literally just begging you to stop putting hCaptcha in your apps. Please. I don't know what else to do. Please. Please don't do it. If it's on a website we at least have a chance. As bad a chance it might be. But if it's in your app anyone who can't do a captcha is completely locked out. So please. Do not do it.
PSA, if someone asks you for contact info (e.g. a phone number) of someone you know, the correct response is "I can't give that to you, but I can give them yours".
It's efficient and adds no round-trips, it's privacy friendly, it's non-awkward and it's social engineering resistant. It's a universally good rule.
And the corollary, of course: Don't ask someone for another person's contact info - ask them to pass on yours.
@Merovius also handing over someone elses contact details without their explicit permission is literally anfelony in #Germany as it violates #GDPR & #BDSG...
If you live in a state that has or is trying to de-facto ban your pride parade, it's time to go old school.
I help organize one of the world's largest unpermitted annual demonstration marches, and I'm happy to connect you with our coalition to learn how you can do the same.
#Razzia in Privat- und Geschäftsräumen. Vorwurf: Radio Dreyeckland habe einen Indymedia Artikel verlinkt.
What?
